The first picture is the the flag of China because I’m Chinese. I visited China twice since I was born and the favorite part of my visits were the food. I love going to buffets where I can eat and eat for however long. I also enjoy eating eggs  for breakfast and dark chocolate in general. I’ve always had an interest in Rubik’s cubes but I broke the only one I had. I also like reading and looking at memes like the one posted with Yao Ming’s armpit being licked. The last picture is the  of the Android mascot. I’ve always used Android phones because I prefer eating apples. So pretty much what I enjoy are puzzles, funny stuff and food.

As cliché as it sounds, I love chick flicks. I love every fragment of a chick flick; I love the handsome and humorous male characters, the romantic gestures, the happy ever afters, the pretty women, the emotional break downs and even the predictable endings. My absolute favorite tear jerker is 50 First Dates. Adam Sandler plays the role of the most perfect man, all us girls fantasize about. Although I adore Adam Sandler’s charming character in 50 First Dates, the bold and manly features of Wolverine is irresistible. No girl can complain having a Hugh Jackman beside them. Who I love more than Wolverine are my babies. Charlotte, Perry and Mila (left to right) are the three most intelligent, sweet, kind and funny little animals ever. They know a variety of tricks which include, play dead, roll over, high five, dance, crawl, kiss and speak on command.

What I look forward to most every summer is tanning; never tan enough!  Others may think applying makeup daily is a drag and a chore but, I enjoy every second of it. I love pampering myself and attempting to look presentable.

Adding cheese to my meal makes it all the more enjoyable. I love the texture of cheese, the creaminess and the cheesy flavor. I have no self-control when it comes to gouda, parmesan and provolone cheese.

My favorite candy is the ever so sweet candy corn.

The 4 ½ inch scar across my lower neck, between my collar bones was due to a thyroidectomy. I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease September 2011, March 25, 2013 my thyroid gland was surgically removed.

Herherher I am finally in college. Bittersweet feelings about this transition though. Not afraid to represent Baruch with its’ sweater, wearing it proudly. Anyways, I am Asian/ Cantonese, clearly. But apparently I change into a different Asian in the summer because of how easily I get tan, according to my friends I turn a Pilipino. I am big on family and friendship. I learned how to value these things through the New Life Now Church Group. These people there are my family and I love them to death. I LOVE playing volleyball and with the New Life Now Warriors I get to continue playing this sport. I was never a big handball fan when I was younger. However, my friend forced me to play during Sophomore year of High School and now I can play! Scrub status forever. Working out is something I like to do when I am stressed or just plain bored.  BAM! Look at those guns. During my free time I would like to read, bookworm for life. I mainly read novels containing romance and comedy because those are the only things that I won’t fall asleep on. Other genres bore me really easily. And in the last photo as you can see, I am a kid at heart. There is nothing wrong with going into Toys R Us and squeezing into those mini cars that I never got as a child, this is call having fun.

The first two pictures show my favorite basketball and football team. I’m a huge New York Knicks and New York Jets fan. Whenever either team loses I feel a part of me die. One thing I want to see before I actually die is the Knicks winning a championship as well as the Jets winning the Super Bowl.

The third picture is of my favorite video game, Kingdom Hearts. It came out for the PS2 years ago, but they decided to remake for the PS3 so I had to get it immediately. The fourth picture shows my favorite book series, Harry Potter. I like the movies too, but I prefer the books since they expand the story more.

The fifth and sixth pictures are of my favorite food and drink. I eat halal food at least once a month and buy bubble tea once every few weeks. Around where I live, bubble tea shops and halal carts are close by each other so it’s convenient for me.

The seventh picture shows Hong Kong. I used to hate going there, but once I got used to the city, it became my second home. Even though the flight from NYC to Hong Kong is 16 hours, I wouldn’t mind going 2-3 times a year.

Finally the last picture shows a logo of the place where I realized who my true friends are, Bayside High School. I had a lot of good friends throughout my four years in high school, but it wasn’t until senior year that I realized who I was going to say in touch with during my adulthood, and these people mean the world to me.

My all time favorite sport is handball. And my favorite athlete in the sport is Rookie (the man in blue shorts and white tee.) I’m a huge fan of Wu Tang Clan and Tupac fan. My favorite game is league of legends… and my favorite champion is Wukong. I LOVE riding my fixie around the city or ocean view during the night time. And very interested in BMX/skateboarding. I love to play my guitar on my spare time…although i’m an amateur… Some of my favorite movies are Fast and Furious, Limitless, and Hangover. Lastly, i like any kind of activity that gives me an adrenaline rush like riding roller coasters.

I love the beach and was born in Honolulu, Hawaii (The Seaside By The Kooks). So, it’s not huge shock that I am also an avid surfer. When I was about 8, I moved to Potomac, Maryland and lived there until the last year of high school (The Suburbs by Arcade Fire). After that I moved to Tokyo, Japan, where I studies for a semester at Waseda University (Tokyo Drift by Teriyaki Boyz). I love music and interned at the 9:30 club in Washington DC where my favorite show I watched was by the band, Bastille (No Angels By BASTILLE ft. Ella). Also, I’m mostly into Indie Rock Music and Electronic, but I also listen to classical music (Cinematic Orchestra – To Build A Home) a lot which seems to surprise a lot of people. I like how you can make a song with no words and still understand what the song is about. A few things I like to do is ride horses (Horses By Grand Hallway), play tennis (Hello By Martin Solveilg & The Dragonettes), and play guitar mostly covers of songs (Heartbeats Cover By Ellie Goulding).  Lastly, I thought I would put the last two songs I just recently downloaded just for fun (Run By Daughter LCAW Remix and Halcyon By Ellie Goulding).

The first picture is a picture of my high school logo, Brooklyn Tech. It is where I grew up in life the most and found my clique. They’ve been with me through 4 years and most of them are still going to the same school as me. I wouldn’t have been able to make it through high school without them all. Secondly, it is a picture of a barbell with a bed. These things represent me because not only do I enjoy weight lifting and pushing myself to all that I can do.  I also like to sleep and rest. Handball is a sport that I’ve played throughout high school. I met and learned a lot from people just by playing handball at the park with friends or strangers. It just brings everyone together. Football was the first sport I enjoyed playing, during my junior high school years. I have a picture of Brooklyn because that is where I grew up and will always be home. Steak is something I enjoy eating since it contains a lot of protein, which is something essential to weight training. Carvel represents me because that’s where I work. Working there has been fun and it allowed me to meet all these new people, my co-workers. Finally, I have a picture of Brooklyn Tech wrestling. I enjoyed watching wrestling and supporting my school’s team since one of my best friends was captain of the team. The other co-captain was also one of my friends and watching him wrestle was always exciting. Although I couldn’t wrestle for my school because of time issues, I would like to know how far I would’ve gotten in high school wrestling.

Starting off with the first picture, my country of origin. Many people mistake me for being Indian or being from the Middle East. That is completely false. I am from a country called Suriname, located in South American. The unique thing about my country is that it’s a Dutch colony and that being said, I also know how to speak Dutch, surprisingly.

The second picture depicts my love for basketball. Ever since a child, I’ve been playing competitively. Basketball has always been with me and was a key source in staying out of trouble. It also distracted me from my school work, but that wasn’t important at the time. Also, the Miami Heats represents where I grew up, Miami, Florida.

The third picture, and most important to me, is weight lifting. I took up this new activity as a way to kill time after school. But it turned out to be one of my greatest devotions since the age of twelve. Helped to burn off stress, whatever stress I thought I had, and was a way to escape the world and to be in my own personal one.

The fourth picture depicts my love for music. Mostly music from the Caribbean or around that genre. My favorite artist is Vybz Kartel, mainly because his style attracted me. But nevertheless, whatever profanity he sings about, is a way to express himself and I admire the courageousness.

My favorite fruit being the coconut. Growing up in a tropical state and being from South American/Caribbean region, this my favorite fruit. I would grow a tree of them if i could, but unfortunately I can’t.

Lastly, I love the idea of money. Growing up, the mentality of my family was to earn money. I started to save in a little piggy bank at the age of five. I never liked the idea of spending money, because than it would mean that i would have less. And I couldn’t let my stack decrease. So, basically my main goal in life is to make money. The reason for my being in Baruch.

The first three pictures show the 2 of my favorite foods. They always make me hungry regardless of how they made…sorta lol. When they’re made right, they make me really happy. Whenever I see them, they make my mouth water and everyone knows how big of a eater I am of these three foods. Just so you know, I’m not just a fan of these foods, but many others as well. My food selection is very culturally diversified. The next picture shows how much I love to build things such as computers, model planes, and many types of engineering activities. They involve a lot of procedures and takes great patience and time in order to be done. In the end, the project I created will be a great accomplishment for me, each and every time. The fifth picture is a resemblance of my favorite color. I love green.Everything I want as an object should be green. Green makes me feel so natural and so relaxed at the same time. The 6th picture is my favorite flavor ice cream. Chocolate tastes the best and every time I eat it, it just melts and just soothes me. Nothing beats chocolate ice cream or anything else that is chocolate for that matter. Another thing that I love are electronics  such as phones and computers. I’m always up to date on the latest gadgets even though it is social distraction to us students. They interest me a lot and it makes me provide advice for people who are interested in buying electronics.  My favorite interest are airplanes. Everything about it intrigues from the wiring to the avionics to the wings and airframe, to the engines and to the landing gear. Everything about it just makes me jump off my chair and if someone engages me about this topic, I won’t stop talking until you shut me up. sushi dumplings steakbuilding computersgreenchocolate ice creamimagesplanes

Rodrigo Bermejo’s First Blog Post

I think I will first mention that I have broken my arms 3 times (My right has been broken twice, and my left once).  What can I say? I have been pretty reckless for the most part, much to my mother’s dismay.  Anyway, my favorite method of passing the time is watching movies. I enjoy watching different films, of different genres of different origins and analyzing them in order to attempt to better understand the meanings of each scene, character, or aspect in the film . If it is a fun movie such as the 2012 film The Avengers that does not really challenge you to think about underlying messages and meanings, I will just sit back and enjoy it for what it is. With that said, my favorite movie right now would have to be the 1971 film A Clockwork Orange created by cinematic master Stanley Kubrick. Talking about this movie would deserve its own separate blog post, but for now here is a brief synopsis. The film takes place in a dystopian future tells the story of a young man named Alex DeLarge, who is the epitome of evil and is cured of being evil at the cost of his free will, when the government takes it away. This caused me to ask myself this question; “What is free will and who deserves to have it?” Ever since I saw that movie, I have pondered the thought and have yet to come up with an answer. Anyway, that movie is an adaptation of a book with the same name and actually one of the few instances where it compares rather well with the source material. The same cannot be said about my favorite book, Les Miserables. I do not enjoy the musical, nor the numerous film adaptions. I prefer the book because it portrays the characters as they should, unlike the film versions. When I am not watching movies, I watch sports mostly NFL. MY favorites teams are; the Jets, Packers and Lions. I also enjoy music; my favorite band are the Doors. Now things I do not like are heights and rollercoasters.
