When visiting the 9/11 memorial for the first time,I was expecting a regular bland memorial like most. But once i got to the south fountain and experiencing such wonderful architecture and planning put in to commemorate the victims off the attacks and helping the victims family remember the ones they lost. The memorial showed me a new side of New York that i never seen before. A place that people could remorse and remember the past. New York usually being a tough place that shows no emotion, the memorial opens a new side of New York and its people. Showing that we care what happens to us and that we won’t stand for it, showing that we care for the fallen victims and their hurt families, by building this memorial in their name and showing that we care. Many people visit the memorial and many people being at the memorial when i went. People who didn’t have any victims of the attack and people who did all getting together because they care about it and the history of New York. Seeing that everyone pulled through and manage to get through the tragic event. The memorial also reminded me to live life to the fullest and always be ready for the unexpected. It also showed to me to continue in life to become successful enough to be also remembered and remembered for things that i will accomplish in my life and continue with it. All this is going to make me progress and try my hardest in school and life to become successful.

Visit to the MET ( academic blog #2)
So for my academic blog, I decided to head out to the MET or the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I went with my boy Michael, and it was fantastic. Although I been to the location before this was my first time really being able to appreciate the amazing art that was for show. The best thing about it was the sheer diversity of art that was on the display. The museum included art from areas like Egypt, United States, Asia, and many other places with wonderful types of arts.
Going into more details, when I first arrive, the building from the outside was amazing. The architecture was grand and beautiful, which me and Michael agree on. When entering you already get a glance on how amazing the place is. Even better, you decide how much to pay for admission which I think is awesome. When I entered the museum it was superb. One of my favorite parts was when we entered the American art which included some rooms. As soon I stepped into the room, everything felt different, almost soothing and relaxing which I rarely ever experience living in New York.
If you never been to the MET, please take the time and do your self a favor and visit the MET
Metropolitan Art Museum – FRO Blog #2
Last Wednesday, I went to the Metropolitan Art Museum located on 82nd street. It was a twenty minute trip from Baruch. It was my first time going to the Metropolitan Art Museum. Usually, I don’t like to go to museums because I found them to be boring and a waste of time. As I arrived there, the food prices are so expensive compared to Brooklyn. A hot dog costs three dollars around the Metropolitan Art Museum. After eating lunch, I bought my ticket for $1. As I traveled around the museum, there were a lot of interesting art about religion and Jesus in the beginning. The artworks look beautiful but it was not interesting for me. As I explored the museum, I saw very intriguing objects like dishes and pottery from the 1500s. As I explored the museum, I realized that Metropolitan Art Museum has some interesting artworks and this was not a boring experience at all.
As I traveled around the museum, there were a couple of artworks that caught my interest work. One of the artworks was a silk carpet from the 1600s. It has an interesting picture of a couple of newborns kids touching a brown creature. This carpet was representing Giochi di Putti that Pope Leo commissioned. Another exhibit I liked was the guns and armor. There were many guns and armors depicted in the museum. They were many different types of armors in the museum. One of my favorite museums was the Harquebusiers Armor of Pedro II because it was simpler and the color of the armor looks amazing. In the weapon exhibits, there were a lot of guns and bows. One of my favorite guns in the museum was the flintlock gun because it was portable and the design of the gun was different from most guns. There were a lot of colors for the bow and arrows but I was not interested in it. After that, I decided to go home because I needed to pick up my cousin around 3:30 p.m. I only have time to visit the first floor of the museum. Next time, I will visit the second and third floor of the museum.
Blog#2; student Life
Last month (I forgot the specific date) I went to the meeting about E-sports club with my friends in our school. I remembered it took place in 4-180 in Newman Vertical Campus. Actually, I was really interest in playing video games such as, FIFA, NBA 2k something like that. I usually like to play those games with my fiends on PS4. I though maybe I could find someone who had the same interest as me in E-sports club.
I remembered that they prepared the foods and drinks for us, although I already ate the lunch. During the meeting, the president and vice -president were came to stage and introduced themselves and the E-sports club for us. They mainly talked about CSGO(I was not playing this game, my roommate was playing), League of legends and some other games. To to honest, I had not play any of those games. Most impressive thing I remembered is that the CSGo team of Baruch had won a champion in a tournament. After that, we introduced ourself in a group. I found that one of my friend also play FIFA and PES. Also, I found most of friends all played CSGO, except me.
By talking about E-sports club, I thought it was not just a place for students to play video games. Students also can make some new friends over here. Sometimes, we often talk about study and exam. But in E-sports clubs, we probably can discuss some other new topics, we can meet numerous people who has the same interest with you. Moreover, I think join E-sports club also is a good way for students to release stress out. As for me, I start class on 9am and finish at 5:30pm on every Tuesday and Thursday. It is a good way for me and my friend to have a relax.
Academic: The Metropolitan Museum of Art
I visited the Metropolitan Museum the other day, mainly for the purpose of writing this blog post and obtaining extra credit for my Themes of Global History class, but I didn’t let those reasons burden me enough from enjoying the exhibits. The Met includes exhibitions from different cultures around the world; they can go as specific as Greek and Roman Art to as broad as Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Pretty much every aspect of the globe is either displayed, written, or mentioned in the Met.
The exhibition that drew the most interest to me was Arms and Armor. Going to war around the 15th and 16th centuries is incredibly different from going to war in current times. With modern technology, soldiers are fine with bulletproof vests, camouflage clothing, and round, plastic helmets. These uniforms are just like the word itself, uniform. There is no character or personality in the gear that soldiers wear. However centuries ago, armor were made from various materials and had intricate designs on them. The armor showcased were very beautiful and allowed the wearers to proudly flaunt their culture while fighting for their country. I love watching movies and TV shows that are set in this time period because I’m able to watch soldiers wearing armor in action. Not only were the armor very intriguing, the weaponry was shocking.
The arms in the medieval ages were not what I assumed them to be, just simpled musket rifles. There were weapons from all over the world. I saw Italian guns and Japanese samurai swords. The weapons from the Islamic ages had geometric designs and Arabic on them. Other weapons had gems and vivid colors on the weapons.
After finishing up the Arms and Armor exhibit, I visited Egyptian Art. I was learning about Ancient Egypt in my History class. While I was growing up, my uncle worked in Sudan and brought me a book with Egyptian figurines and statues. I always thought Egyptian sculptures were beautiful and different from anything else I’ve seen. This was the first time when I saw a sarcophagus in person. The sarcophagi were bigger than I thought they were. It is impressive how Egyptians were able to create complex sculptures and objects during their time.
Blog #2-Academic:Guggenheim
Today I went to the Guggenheim Museum with my sister and her boyfriend. While we were there we saw various different exhibitions. One thing that really stood out to me was the sculpture that was hanging down from the ceiling made by a Chinese artist. Another exhibition that we visited was Rose+Croix which was a display of many different artists from France and Germany, to name a few. All of the pieces of artwork showed many different kids of emotions. One in particular, a women ironing, caught the attention of me and my sister. She said that the women in the painting was hardworking and admitted she was probably tired, but she was happy to be there because she was working for her family. She specifically said, “Look at the slight smile on her face, artists don’t do that on accident.” I thought the painting the showed that the women was tired and she was drained from ironing, a job that she had to do everyday. I thought she was probably a servant. I said to my sister, “Look at the grey color in the painting and the brush strokes. Also look at her body language-she’s slumped over and tired and looks like she is sick honestly. She’s clearly tired and overworked and drained from what she’s doing.”
Another one that my sister and I had a lot to say about was a painting of a women with snakes coming out of her head and in between her breasts. The explanation of the photo said that the artist wanted to show that women are powerful, which during the time of the painting they were seen as almost equal to animals. This painting showed that women could be in control and demanding. This was shown because the women painted from a higher point of view and the viewers looking up to her.
