After failing to attend the club fair the first time because there was none, I was able to attend the actual club fair and fill my inbox with information from clubs. When I got to the gym where the club fair was being held, I immediately realized the music. It was way too loud, I couldn’t hear anyone talk unless there was a lot of shouting. This made talking to clubs extremely challenging because it quickly devolved into two people shouting back and forth about signing up for an email list. Now aside from the loud music (I sound like an old man), the club fair was interesting. My high school was rather small and we had very few clubs. You could actually fit the entire school into that gym, which we did many times because that gym is where we held our pep rallies. Walking into the club fair here at Baruch College you could instantly tell there are a ton of clubs.
I was immediately drawn to the club I had attended in high school, model UN. I promptly signed up to receive emails and began to explore. I found a bunch of interesting other clubs including debate and mock trial clubs. I found the esports club interesting as it was a way for me to meet people with similar interests as me in a less serious and professional setting than many of the other clubs. I had already attended their general interest meeting so it was useless for me to sign up as I was also already on their email list. I signed up for emails from a bunch of clubs, I’m obviously not going to join all of them but I might join one or two, I just don’t know which. As I left to the relief of my ears I noticed there was a booth where they were registering people to vote, which is good. I then left to go get coffee before heading off to my writing class.
