Monologue

Flying in a November night

No turbulence, no strong wind

Peace reminded in and out

Everyone was dreaming

Dreaming of ups, dreaming of downs

Dreaming of the upcoming destination

Five hours passed

The captain announced

We are here! We are in New York!

Off the plane

The place was unfamiliar

With no recognizable faces

We were lost

Seriously, in an airport?

Anyway

Speaking a little English

We made our way to the arrival hall

It was 5:30am

Where was cousin?

He supposed to be here

No cellphone plan, no data

It was impossible to get in touch

He in the parking area, we inside

8:30am

Finally, he came in

Everyone was full of joy

No more waiting, no more curses

Let’s go home!

Later, we found out

We misunderstood the meeting place

Upsss! Poor cousin

Major and Minor Fair

Last week, I went to the Major and Minor fair to get a better understanding of different majors and minors that Baruch is offering.

Before going to the fair, I was indecisive about my major. I was between Finance and accounting. I had several conversations with different advisers, and they helped me to understand and decide which major I really want. Also, for the minor, they explained to me how to declare a minor and what classes I should take.

Finally, I talked to an adviser from the STARR. She told me how to build my resume and get internships, and  also it is good for freshmen to start to get involved in on campus activities. Importantly, we should visit the STARR website because it provides all information that we need.

I am happy that I attended this fair. Otherwise, I would be still struggling with deciding my major and minor.

Hello, it is me again!!! Guess what is coming…? FFRRRRRIIIIDDDAAAAAYYY!!! Since me and my two best friends Alexa and Aulona wanted to have some fun, to get relaxed…..we attended dancing workshop!! We had a lot of fun :D:D I could not stop watching my girls’  movements!!!:D AGGGrrr!! The organizators thought us many different dances, It was an amazing workshop. Dances included Baccatta, Azaoto, Etighi, Bollywood. I am dancer for my whole life, so I enjoyed. It makes me smile, and I felt happiness inside me. Not only because I met new people, learned new kid of dances but also because I was with my “new ” Baruch friedns and we could do something more than studying.

Until next time, XOXOXO MUA!!!!:D

Prima ballerina Angie <3

Hi, everyone it is me Angelika again !!! Last time on Tuesday April 5 2016,  my best friend Alulona and me, went to attend workshop. This time we chose The Starr Career Development Center, which helps me explore my career goals. There were four people who spoke about their work, experience and how their life path looked. They emphasize important skills that successful person need to acquired, one of the most important that stayed in my mind was about working collaborative with group member. It is important to look for the benefits of the whole member not for self in order to obtain success. The most interesting part for me was about blogging, I was percolated in her speech!! It was awesome she even took e-mail of people who need help to start blogging!

XOXO, until next time MUA!!!:D

The Alexander String Quartet

I recently attended the Live Musical Performance and Workshop: Alexander String Quartet with my English class on April 11, 2016. We heard two pieces consisting of a quartet; 2 violins, 1 viola, and 1 cello. The performance was absolutely beautiful and sparked a feeling of creativeness within me. It brightened my mood and was just utterly compelling. They were such a fine group in every possible way, They were so in sync, musically, technically, or in any way anyone wants to view it. The quartet was so in control of the musics emotional contours and deep in their element. Being that I am a dancer and went to a performing arts high school, I basically studied classical ballet nearly 4 hours a day for almost 4 years and found this performance so fascinating. It reminded me of my days in high school where I would dance to such similar music. They literally had me dancing in my seat. Following the performance we spoke about classical and contemporary music, and how it ages. I would absolutely recommend this to my peers and if anyone is actually interested they have a couple of upcoming performances Wednesday April 13th and the 15th.

P.S. We were not by any means allowed to use our phones during the performance so I could not provide any media with my post.

Majors and Minors Fair

IMG_5513

I was participating the Majors and Minors Fair on last Thursday. I am interested in having two minors, but really did not know how does this can work. So this fair gives me some guide of choosing minors and career.

Here is what I want to share with everyone:

For your first minor, it has to choose from liberal arts, which is required by the school. So for me, choose a language may be useful and a better way out. Also, they suggest that if you want to improve your major through minor, you can pick something that is related. For instance, as Accounting major, you may pick philosophy as minor, which enhances your logical thoughts.

For your second major, as business students, we can pick the second minor from business areas. Such as, economics, marketing, and finance mathematics (this one looks scare to me).

Overall, thanks to our school holding this fair to help us.

And since it is my last blog assignment, hope everyone in my FRO class will have a great GPA and a joyful campus life.

Sincerely,

Chaoyan
