So for my second blog I took a visit to STARR- the career center on thursday, to get tips on my resume. I didn’t set an appointment so it was a walk in experience. The staff was really nice and since there wasn’t many students i was helped after 5 minutes; the entire meeting was rather quick since my resume wasn’t complete. I was well aware that my resume needed A LOT of help since i don’t have much job experience, the advisor looked over my unfinished resume and yea she agreed that it was best if i had at least some collegiate and community experience and she also advised me in saying that it was okay for my resume to be incomplete as of now since i just started and that there will be plenty of opportunities in the future to build up. She also gave me a packet with examples of resumes for future reference. After our meeting was over i asked a few questions like where can i sign up for clubs and where i can find jobs. my advisor printed out “instructions” or a guide for STARR search and honestly it helps a lot. As for the club the lady at the front desk told me to go to student life. The entire experience was helpful and they really gave me good tips as to how i can build my resume. i really recommend going to STARR even if you have an unfinished resume like mine, they will still help you and give you really great advice.
