Readings for Tuesday

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your insightful annotations on Antigone 1 & 2. I have now also uploaded part 3 & 4 (and part 5 is coming soon– just typing up the last few pages of the play right now). For Tuesday’s class, please finish reading and annotating the rest of the play (so parts 3,4, and 5).

Try to focus on how the characters develop, especially Creon, Antigone, and the Chorus. Do their views change over the course of the play, or maybe their language, or the tone in which they speak? In class, we’ll finish our “Situating Antigone” presentation and answer some discussion questions on the play. Then, I’ll also talk to each one of you individually about your first essay and try to give some pointers on how you can improve your writing and analysis.
