Central Park – Alexander Hamilton Statue
New York City is rich with art. The thing that is fascinating about this city is that you don’t necessarily have to visit a museum in order to observe some fine art. This statue was made by Carl Conrads, a German sculpture in the civil war era. His greatest pieces of art can be found in the National Statuary Hall Collection at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Conrads served as a soldier for the union army and fought as an artilleryman. The granite sculpture of Alexander Hamilton can be found on the east side of central park, facing the Metropolitan Museum. Conrads died at 1920 in Connecticut where he resided after the war.
