Tweets Are A Thing of the Past

History is a lot more than just reading classroom textbooks and learning about what happened “back then”. Physical documents give you a larger perspective and a better understanding on the environment and atmosphere of that time period than just facts from a textbook, whether these documents be letters, diaries, photos, films, or even songs. Most recently, our digital era is becoming apart of this archive of historical information. Every single Tweet, for example, is now being archived by the Library of Congress. Personally, I find this to be fascinating because Twitter is apart of my daily routine and the fact that it is now being apart of history makes me feel like I’m contributing something to society, even though my Twitter doesn’t consist of much other than where I am or what I’m eating.
