Lesson 1 : Shared Ressources

Salary History: Wall Street Can’t Ask, and You Needn’t Tell: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/13/business/dealbook/job-salary-pay-women-men-wall-street.html?_r=0

In class, we’ve spoke about how some non profits are categorized as counterbalance such as advocacy non-profits. I thought this article was interesting because it speaks of a non profit advocating for  Wall Street Executive. “Don’t tell Wall Street executives how to pay their people.”That’s what the two chairmen of the Partnership for New York City, a nonprofit membership organization made up of top business leaders in New York City, told the mayor’s representatives. At first, glance, it appeared that this non profit was not necessarily working for the social good but we’ve learned in class that some nonprofit exist as quasi- businesses or as counterbalance. They can defend their stakeholders, or funders but wouldn’t that be controversial or conflictual with our definition of non-profits?
