I was very surprised to learn how broad the encompass of nonprofit really is. I had always thought that nonprofits were simply defined by a service providing organization that was tax exempt and whose mission was to provide back to social welfare. It was interesting to find out how the NFL at some point was a nonprofit and to an extent probably used its tax exemption to gain a lot of profit. I was also surprised to learn how many social clubs benefit from this status as well. I automatically thought of white supremacy groups that are emerging across the nation, specially after being incentivize by the now common rhetoric of the current president. It made me wonder as to the degree in which nonprofits are pro/for social welfare. The idea of these social groups obtaining status, changed my very rigid prototype of what a nonprofit had to be.
