The link above is a video of a young Jamaican boy participating in a conference for the International Planned Parenthood Federation. He explains that he wants to be a part of the differences that develop for his generation. I think it is interesting that he mentions the improvements coming from himself and his peers, not handed to them as if they are just stakeholders and not participants.
In the technical sense, the boy is a stakeholder. He is a constituent and may be directly affected by the decisions the Federation makes. But he explains that he wants to be more than justĀ a stakeholder, he wants to be a participant. All stakeholders should be participants (the two words should not be mutually exclusive), and the leadership of this non-profit is bringing together the horizontal stakeholders to ensure they feel as if they are part of the decisions made by their organization.
