Thesis

It is apparent that Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” is influenced by John Locke’s concept of tabula rasa, no innate principles.  The monster learns from experience through sensation and reflection.

  1. I know which theory and which literary text you’re using, which is good. However your argument is not really clear. First if it’s apparent then how is it an argument? In general you want to stay away from those kind of vague totalizing claims like “it’s obvious” or “no one would disagree.”

But perhaps more importantly I don’t know what your so what is here. You want to say that you see aspects of Locke’s theory demonstrated in Shelley’s text, which is good, but you have to tell me what does that realization do for how we understand either Shelley’s text or Locke’s or both?
