I didn’t take this photo because it’s difficult to photograph a plane in the sky while flying, but it’ll have to enough for now. I adore planes because they represent the freedom to be alone in the skies, distant from everyone else. I like planes because they can transport you from one place to another in a matter of hours. I believe it symbolizes my greatest delight, which is the freedom to go wherever you want, anytime you want. I want people to think of being able to go wherever in life without restrictions when they see this picture, and that’s how aircraft make me feel.

I took this picture back in the summer of 2017. It was one of the best summers I ever spent with my family. We flew to Florida and it was first time ever seeing a hot-air balloon and riding one too. It was around 8pm and I feel like I captured a beautiful picture of the hot -air balloon. A warm night with lights all around made this picture even better than if it were to be taken during the day . The reflection from the water just makes this picture even better to me than it already was and it will always remind of this specific summer.

Pier 1 - Brooklyn Bridge Park - Brooklyn Bridge Park

I originally took this picture in October this previous year during the day on my birthday. On my birthday I decided to go the Brooklyn bridge piers with a few of my friends after we ate food at a restaurant. We decided to go to the piers for the views and because it was a good spot to take pictures. I love going to the piers at Brooklyn bridge because of how it makes me feel. I love the whole mood, atmosphere, and environment. The view is beautiful and iconic which is why many tourists actually go visit the piers when coming to New York. In the picture you can see the beautiful sky and the bridge behind that. A wonderful day outside which is why there are tons of people. The green really makes the picture pop and you can tell the enjoyment in the air. New York City is unique and has views like no other city making it special.

I took my image last year in November. I took it when I was sitting outside of my house and I was amazed by how beautiful the sky looked. While seeing how beautiful the sky is something else that people would think while looking at it is, why is it like that because a sky should not be almost red. The picture makes people wonder whether they should be worried about it or not. Some may think that it turned like that because of the climate problems others thought it related to the red moon that we was supposed to appear during that time. For something that looks so beautiful how can it be something to worry about especially when it was seen in a moment of relaxation. I think about this photo as abstract art because in our recent years we have been placed in many situations where we worry about our living situations because of issues like climate change. Therefore, this photo creates for us many questions for the environment in which we live in.

The image that I took was a picture of my neighborhood at night, in which it is solitary and is not eventful at all. A couple of plants are the focal point of the picture, surrounded by cars in the background with the street light on and houses. This picture reflects upon the idea of reflection itself as it gives off the vibe of thinking about life and just ending off the night. All of the different focal points of the picture come together to create an image of somberness and even isolation in a sense as it indicates how being out at night is so quiet and can be used as a time to reflect. I lowered the exposure and the contrast to further expand upon and give off the impression of an unsettling and quiet night in which one is awake where most are away in their homes and it projects a reflective state of mind. These elements along with the street lights and the business that is open in the picture come together to appeal to the audience that the quietness of nights have a sense of isolation which can indicate a certain ease of mind while also being nerving. The genre of this art is abstract, as it has several different components such as the street lights, the business in the background, the nonmoving plants and mini trees, the cars and the houses to imply how nights are mysterious and isolated which can lead to a moment of reflection.

The picture I choose was a picture I took in November last year. I remember taking this picture as I was walking by the Bailey Fountain in Brooklyn. It was a nice, windy day and using editing tools I really wanted to enhance beauty of the nature along with a relaxing view. One of the elements I used to do this was by increasing the contrast which helped the trees and the fountain pop out more as a way to admire how it looks. It was also meant to make them look sharper so that the viewer can really see the branches on the tree, the structure of the fountain and the building behind it. In addition to that I also slightly changed the hue of the picture with a dark shade of blue. This was meant to give that cool and a bit windy feel to the sky as the viewer visualizes themselves there. As well as, emphasize the autumn feeling that allows us to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature depicted by the lively colors of the leaves. The message of this image could be to enjoy life as much as possible, and when things don’t go as planned, we can look to nature for relaxation and new fresh start.

I decided to choose an image from 2017 that I took during one of my occasional walks along Rockefeller Park after school. In the iPhone settings, I decreased the contrast and increased both the saturation and brightness of the image in order to create a sense of vibrance depicted by the shadows casted over the buildings while the bright clouds loom over them. I also cropped out the railings to put more emphasis on the light and shadows of the image. I tend to go on these walks as a way to clear my head. The image of the slow-moving waves, gleaming setting sun, and glorified clouds had always been a calming sight for me. The shadows cast upon the buildings had only emphasized the beauty of the sky and clouds. In a way, the message of this photo could be to provide a sense of hope for better things to come as represented by the contrasting light between the buildings and clouds/sky.

This photo was taken in June of 2020 during the Black Lives Matter movement and the rioting which led businesses to put wooden boards up to protect their glass windows and doors. Shortly after the riotings, I walked past a store with this spray-painted on and it struck out to me with all the colors. I increased the contrast on this picture to make the colors stand out more since it is an important part of the message. The color scheme would appeal to a large group of people and is very attention-grabbing. I believe this message was to show support to the LGBTQ+ community in a very chaotic time.

I took this picture in Brooklyn a few weeks ago. It’s the place where you can see the view of Manhattan from Brooklyn. I decided to oversaturate the picture and get rid of the shadows because I wanted to show the different colors that are in this picture. It was also a really warm day so I thought that this shot would give off a summer vibe. The girl lying down reminds me of a hot summer/warm weather. I also notice that brighter colors are connected to more positive emotions, and I want the viewer to feel that when they see this picture. The contrast between the red building, the bright blue sky, the grey rocks, and the greenish water all come together to create this image. When people look at this picture, I want them to feel happier/relaxed, just as the girl lying down.

I took this picture yesterday as the sun was setting and the light was coming through my window. This is a picture of a little philodendron cutting that I’m growing in a little bottle. A couple weeks ago, while trimming my plant, I accidentally cut off a longer piece, and I figured I could use the cutting and grow a new plant, and reuse a glass bottle in the process as well. Just a weeks after doing this, I saw that the cutting already had long roots growing, and it kept on living. As far as editing goes, I didn’t do much. I just increased brightness a little bit because the image was a little darker than I liked, and I increased the definition to make the plant and bottle stick out better from the background. I like this image because it’s really simple, but the light and shadows, and green and yellow colors make it really pretty to me. The lights and shadows are what drew me to taking this picture in the first place. I looked up from my bed and thought that it was pretty, so I snapped a picture of it. To me, this signifies finding beauty in simple things. There isn’t much in this picture, and as I said the image looks really simple, yet the warm colors give it some beauty and comfort, and the shadows also add some detail. I also think this picture to signify growth and new beginnings, as used old objects that could’ve been thrown away, and made something new from them
