Hi, my name is Chenteng. This is my second semester at Baruch and my intended major is accounting. The piece of art I chose for the blog is a picture of Kobe Bryant celebrating his 5th Championship. After losing to the Boston Celtics in the 2008 NBA Finals, Kobe pushed himself to exhaustion in order to ensure he wins the next one. He ended up leading the Lakers to win the championship in 2009 and 2010. The reason I chose this specific picture is that he is my favorite player of all time and it is one of my favorite moments of his NBA career. I felt relatable to him because he wasn’t always the most athletic and talented player. He had to put in the work to earn everything. To be able to achieve what he achieved shows that hard work pays off. His work ethic and relentless drive to improve himself every single day also inspire me to try to become the best version of myself. Being an ultimate competitor and having a desire to be the best at what he is doing motivates me. He plays a major role in my life not just from the basketball standpoint, but also academically and mentally. His mamba mentality taught me to limit my fear to challenges in life. The mentality to be the best version of myself changed my whole life and I went from a below-average student in an ESL class to a student in an honors class in middle school. Ever since my grade average has never dropped below 90. I am truly grateful to be able to watch him play and thankful that he taught me so much. Even though he is no longer here, he will be with us due to the impact he had and the people he inspired.
