Hi, my name is Ekaterine. This is the second semester for me at Baruch, and my intended major is psychology. I have been living in Brooklyn for 8 years, and I moved here from Georgia (country) where I was born and raised until I was ten years old. The art I chose for this blog is a drawing by my mom, and I relate to it a lot. I have a lot of different interests, some that I am pursuing, and many that I just think would be interesting. Even though I get interested in a lot of things, it’s difficult to keep some interests going, keep up the motivation to continue, or even start pursuing certain things. For example, I learned music for a long time but right now I’m not focusing on it much, even though I have a lot of interest in it. Because of that there is a bit of chaos in my mind about things that I want to do, try, or learn. I interpret this drawing in that way, that there is a lot of chaos among the three figures, however, the image comes together harmoniously. To me, all three figures are the same person, but in different thoughts and settings. I want to achieve that, and hopefully have my life come together with those different things, all into one cohesive image. The things I want to do don’t have to come with an ultimatum of choosing one thing over another, rather, the differences can create harmony and peace.
