I chose to read the piece by Hartford Courant “Here’s what to know about the dangers that go along with hosting Thanksgiving amid surging coronavirus infections: What’s safe? What’s not?” written by Kieth Grant. The central idea established in this article is that because of coronavirus this year there have to be precautious steps taken to ensure the safety of yours and that of others. Right as the article begins, Grant mentions he is a “…chief prevention officer at Hartford Healthcare and a father of two with large extended family, I have been wrestling with this question personally and professionally.” This establishes credibility, and the reader can feel like they can trust him as he has some type of status in the healthcare field and not just some random person. By also mentioning he had family showed that he was normal and just like everyone else. It was also very helpful when Grant put down a solid list of do’s and don’ts, making it a clear guide for everyone to follow. Even though he mentions how it’s safer to have it virtual, he still offered various options on safety for those who still plan on wanting to do a gathering.
