Society tries to tell us not to “judge a book by its cover”. Myself along with everyone else is guilty of judging people, places, and even books too right off the back. The way you represent yourself on a day to day basis may change but every single day you have the ability to come off as someone else. No one would treat their boss the same way they treat their best friend, nor would they dress, speak or act as if it was their best friend. This isn’t any surprise, it’s just the way it is. We judge people 24/7 on a day to day basis wether it is our professors, friends, roommates, or a random face on the street, before we know them we are automatically trying to piece together their character and that is the norm. This is why everyone should be cautious how they carry themselves because if you do not like the way you are viewed there is a reason for it, you are not looking at yourself 24/7, its the millions of eyes around you. You have to portray yourself how you want to be evaluated. Do not change who you are to please others if you don’t care, just remember that there is a time and place for everything. A time and place to talk, eat, act, joke, even sit and stand differently, and we have to be able to recognize when these times are so we can leave the best impression possible, if we care too.

Monologue – Mina Park
Time
There isn’t enough time.
24 hours aren’t enough
To work, to study, to sleep
Time is such a precious thing
And it keeps slipping away from me
I waste time staring at a clock
Instead of doing something productive.
It’s like my life is ticking away,
And I can’t do anything to stop it.
Motivation
Motivation without discipline is just daydreaming.
Jordan Belfort built his company off understanding people want something for nothing.
I gorge and become addicted to advice from wealthy and powerful people.
Advice is the crack that creates within me more energy than the sun has to offer.
This big beaming ball of motivation shoots up and through my body when I hear the people I aspire to be like talk. But they just speak words, words are easy because you don’t have to commit to them.
Motivation gives me the high of a lifetime but similar to a drug addict the fall is what kills me.
I realized I haven’t got a platform to stand on because I lack discipline and a plan.
Hopefully with what Baruch has to offer, I can create that plan for myself.

You can see the world full of people in just one subway ride.
Commuting every day back and forth,
From Upper East Side to the Lower East Side.
A train always full of people during the rush hour in the morning and evening has every type of person in it.
From Asians, to Europeans, to Latin Americans, to Africans.
The train travels with the world,
full of people from many places with different stories.
Working their hardest to achieve what is called, the American Dream.
That is what I see every day
in the train full of people pushing each other.

I love waking up at 6AM to commute to Baruch
I love getting on the A train for an hour or more to go to school
The A train is the nicest train in the New York City subway system
There is nothing better than the smell of urine and body odor in the morning
I love nothing more than being packed in this train like a can of sardines
I love when musicians play music and sing while I try to get some rest before a long day of classes and basketball practice
There’s nothing like being harassed by panhandlers begging for money
I love this commute so much, I’m even thinking about taking the A train on my days off
Wouldn’t you enjoy this commute as well? Am I a sarcastic person?
On a serious. Never take the A train.

I commute from a small town called Floral Park in Nassau County Long Island. I love my town but sometimes in order to get what you want you have to leave your comfort zone. It takes about 45 minutes to get to Baruch. I wake up around 8 AM. I eat breakfast and get ready for the train ride. Once I’m on the train I meet up with a friend who also goes to Baruch. When my train arrives at Penn I usually get breakfast. Usually, a Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwich on a toasted roll. I got to Calculus class which is at 10:20 AM followed by English then FRO on Wednesdays only. I love Baruch so far and I intend to major in Finance in the Zicklin School of Business. Although my commute is a bit of a struggle both financially and physically I still find ways to find happiness such as listening to music through Spotify.

It was five in the morning time for me to get up and start my first of high school, my school was all way Harlem it took me two hours to go and come back. I was nervous to see the kind of people I would meet because I was in a different environment. My freshman year was nothing but pure failure I couldn’t even get passed a 65 average. I Realized my mistakes and decided to make sure I don’t embarrass myself again.

What are friends?
Are they the people you see everyday……
Are they the people you think of constantly……
Are they the people you talk to everyday……
Are they the people that you hate but still talk to……
Are they the people you love……
Are they the people you tease everyday……
Are they the people you feel you have a connection with…..
Are they the people who understands you……
What are friends? Why are these people called “friends”? What is so special about them? What are friends?

Who am I?
A dreamer who trembles in delight and terror as she considers what happiness and heartache the future may hold.
A daughter who is entering the last stage of the parent-child relationship-friend-ship with Mom and Dad.
A student who loves learning for learning’s sake, not just to pad a college transcript.
A connoisseur who celebrates the beauty and diversity of the snack food aisle in supermarkets.
An optimist who can not wait to seize her future and make her dreams of knowledge, writing and love come true.
A sleeper who escapes pressure and reality through a wonderful invention called the snooze button.
A worrier who compensates for general unluckiness through careful planning and anticipation.
A complete paradox who is one thing, then another , one extreme ,then the total opposite… a bundle of earnest contradictions.

Blog #2- monologue
It’s the night before this is due, yet i still don’t know what to write. Being sitting here for two hours and the page is still blank. What is a monologue? Why do I have to write a monologue? Questions began to formulate as I stare at the blank page. Soon I made some some improvements. Two words were added to the blank page, it reads “Post two.” Not knowing what to do after that, I went to browse the internet and watch some T.V. Few hours passed and I came back to the same page with two words. When can I finish this? I don’t know.

The occurrence of world events are not important to us.
Not even if it affects the prices of food or gas.
We humans are carefree beings that lay caring about nothing but ourselves.
For most people, only the things they see before them matters.
The past, present, and future…they are nothing more than just words.
The flow of time is just how we as human beings measure our lives.
We are oblivious to the sudden slow or the fasten pace of the world.
Because for us, the only thing that matters is what goes on around us.
We do not care for other people’s troubles or misfortunes.
But when bad luck lands on us.
We run to others for help.
But because human beings are so lazy, nothing can be done.
Time is not the sand that lays on the bottom half of a hour-glass.
Time is that finite amount of sand that is quickly passing through the funnels.

Goys with flutes
Guys with suits
Guys with boots
Guys with none of the flutes suits or boots
On my commute to Baruch there is
There is drumming
There is strumming
On my commute to Baruch some people can’t hear the strumming and drumming
On my commute to Baruch

Life is like a seed trying to grow
Buried under the soil where it is not seen
Until it starts to bloom then you will know
That it’s no longer just a tiny bean.
Everyone will grow at a different time.
There is no right way to grow and to strive.
We may drift off the road but it’s the climb.
We should feel lucky that we are alive
For we had battled to reach for the sky
Through obstacles like snow and rain
To times when we once said I want to die
The hardships may give you sorrow and pain
But then who knows what tomorrow may bring
So just breathe, it might not be a bad thing.

A Story
We began walking 9 in the morning. We packed ourselfs food and drinks because we knew that it was going to be long. But we are not professionals to dress in proper clothes and backpacks. Instead we had what we thought as proper, sneakers. Yeap, that’s all we had, just sneakers and plastic bags in our hands carrying food. The mountain is divided to tourist site, with temples and scenery sites. However, after we got to those places, I didn’t have the mood to check out those sites. Instead I just want to rest and calcaluted the time to next resting area and the how much more miles to get down. Those scenery was noting attracting but instead, very annoying. I don’t want to see it, to tired to please it. All in my mind was the comfor bed, cold drinks and the air conditioner waiting for me at home. Though my family seem to be appreciating, I’m just bored by this surrounding. We got down at 6 in the afternoon. I promised myself, never go mountain climbing again.

The Eye of The Storm
The wind blows the storm howls at me. My body is swaying back and forth as the waves hit the boat. Every year my father and I travel 200 miles on the long island sound up to the small town of Greenport where my family spends our summer. It was a calm and sunny morning and the day couldn’t of been any better. As I take the job as crew I throw the lines from the dock and we are on our way. The first hour in the trip we talked, laughed and made jokes about life and various other topics. This all soon came to a halt when dark clouds only a couple miles away started to approach the vessel. My father and I stayed calm due to the fact we are both very experienced boaters and have been through a storm before. The weather can be unknown at times and this was one of those moments. The boat started to struggle and sway side to side. It almost became sickening to the point where both my father and I had to switch at the helm. This was at the time a bit nerve racking but not to bad. The storm felt as if it lasted hours, but within the next 30min it passed and we were safe again. This really made me think about how quickly things can hit you in life and you truly have to be prepared as best as possible. Nothing is ever certain or can be determined. The best you can do as a person is just to be prepared for the next time something happens so you can overcome and take it on as best as possible.

Void Of Existence (Monologue)
It’s nearly midnight and I’m sitting on my bed pondering what to write about.Constant streams of thoughts and ideas flow through my mind but still I’m indecisive .Maybe it’s okay to be indecisive, maybe i don’t need to write about anything.Believe me,this is not a desperate attempt to fill this monologue with words.Maybe this is my reflection on what I’m facing in life right now.The pressure of choosing a major. For god’s sake, I don’t even know the purpose of my life.Well maybe, I don’t need to have a meaning in life…I don’t know…Only time well tell.

Hello my name is Liam Monaghan and I’m 18 years old living in Rockaway Beach. The pictures I have posted are some things that are important to me. I have been playing basketball for 16 years. Basketball has given me the opportunity to travel the country and play against/meet many different talented individuals. I will always find a way to play basketball no matter how old I get. Family is very important to me because they are always there to support me and pick me up in tough times. Night life and going out with friends is important to me because it gives you the opportunity to meet new people and make stories to tell your grandkids when your older. Nothing beats a night out in Manhattan with the squad!!!
