Monologue

Once upon a time on a brisk winter night a legend was born. It was December 3rd 2004. That day my little brother was born. I would’ve never guessed that such a miracle was possible. My brother is a genius with a pure heart, without hatred or evil inside of him. It is always a pleasure talking to him or teaching him something. One thing that I understood is that he is my other half. Everything I lack he makes up for, everything he lacks I make up for. We complete each other in ways I never thought possible. Even that we are young now, we still work together and have major accomplishments. I know there will be unmeasurable success for us in the future.

Monologue

Life is stress and stress is life. College wasn’t as I expected to be. There was plenty of free time as a Student. Although most of the time I had to work during these hours, I tried my best to also manage my school work. As a student in high school, I always procrastinated and this transition wasn’t as easy as it seemed as I continued to work and be a full time college student. I felt like I was behind my studies. Every other day and during the weekends I worked till 7. Coming home exhausted I would have no energy to compete my assignments other than a few light homework. Lately I’ve also thought about quitting but how can any one cut a money flow. I realized I just needed better time management and a system where I can successfully be on top of my classes while I worked. Some of those tactics were completing homework and studying the day of. Although this plan wasn’t completely helpful, as of now I was still able to be on top of my assignments.P

Monologue

Money is power, yes I know
But what is power without knowledge
Yeah I go to work
But I also college

Lectures are boring
And I show up with a straight face
I don’t wanna be here
But that final I gotta ace

When the clock hits 12, I run outta class
My phone is ringing
Who’s that you ask?
Oh it’s just the money calling

Pull up to soho
Ready to swirl
I look over at my friend
You ready girl ?

I put on my apron
And it’s so fire
Some weirdo comes in
Are you looking to hire?

Sorry but not right now
Gotta focus on swirling
Wearing my fresh air maxes
Feeling brolic like I’m curling

Taking the N train home
My feet feels numb
Can’t wait to sleep
But first gotta get my homework done

My head hits the pillow
I’m immediately asleep
The dreams that I’m having
Are far too deep

I had a dream I was at the top of the world
Waking up in Paris having brunch off my balcony
Making all this money
and now I support the family

I’m a businesswoman
Got a house in every country
All this foreign currency
Own properties like monopoly

I’m living lavish and my diamonds gleam
We’re the owners of our dreams

I wanna be successful
Doing things you wouldn’t think to be accessible
And I swear one day this will come true
But for now, I gotta finesse school

monologue

Who am I?
I’m the girl on the train
I’m the long island girl who commutes to and from school
9:06,6:40,7:20,12:35,5:04 Peak/OffPeak
These train times are the new meaning in my life.
I study the people on the train
Where are they from?
Do they work?
Are they tourists?
Some in a suit and tie, some in sports jerseys, some in casual Friday clothing on a Tuesday
I always like to sit in the seat next to the window
Study the outdoors
The transfer at Jamaica cuts my daydream short
I prepare to get off at my stop
I then realize all of the work I have to do
Only to then realize again that the cycle begins in the morning
What cycle?
Being the girl on the train
But who am I?
I am more than a girl on the train
But you have to get to know me to figure that out.

Public Speaking

In college, one of my goals was to step out of my comfort zone academically and take classes I normally wouldn’t like. One of these classes happens to be Public Speaking. I DREAD speaking out in class, presenting even more so but I have no choice in this class. Fortunately, I feel like I am achieving some success in this class and it has forced me to get over my fears and just move forward with whatever I have to do. I look forward to finishing this class off strong.

The MET

Last week I visited New York’s very own Metropolitan Museum of Art, aka The Met. My beautiful girlfriend accompanied(forced) me to come here but I wasn’t about to die so I was like whatever. The fact it was a Thursday may have worked in our favor because there didn’t seem to be too many people there. As we climbed the humongous stairs I felt suddenly very overcome with a feeling of excitement. Through the enormous entrance there was a small tornado of people swirling around and trying to figure out where to go. Finally I spotted the booth where you could obtain tickets and when I saw that the suggested admission price for students was $12, I decided to give $15 for the both of us. I looked on the Met website to determine exactly where the best artwork was and as soon as we entered I began to look for the map. It was quite a long walk before we reached the exhibit so naturally I observed everything that I passed and took photos as well.

STARR

During my earlier days at Baruch, when I didn’t know where things were, I often explored the campus in an effort to become more familiar with it. On one such occasion, I found myself at the STARR career center. I was shocked at all of the information that was just sitting in the hallway for any passerby to see. I glanced around at the various charts and diagrams. While I ended up just walking away after browsing for a second, I’m glad I had the chance to visit this place. It’s crazy how much information people who walk by are missing. I’ll be sure to check out the various other gems hiding around campus.

Baruch spirit

I’ve never had much school spirit, especially not in high school. It’s either been that I never had time or that I was just not interested. Lately I feel different about Baruch, I’ve come to liking it more and more. I find myself wanting to go these clubs and getting interested into it. Theres this one club I’m specifically interested into. Its called DREAM Team, its a political club. I want to go check it out and get into. Also in my further years at Baruch i would like to be apart of Undergraduate Student Government. It’s something that I’m definitely looking forward too…

The Lounge at Lex 24th

There’s this place I find myself really enjoy going to. It’s located two floors below the gym in a nicely spaced reserved area. There the lights are kept dimmed, and comfy sofas are placed around the perimeter of the lounge. Unlike most places in Baruch, here you can take naps or study without disturbance. Unlike the library where there’s a lot of people, here there’s only a few. When it comes to talking with their friends, people often talk softly. For all the times that I’ve been here, not once has there been obnoxiously loud group of people shouting at each other. The Newman Vertical Lounge is a gem.
