I went to a marketing club meeting about creating and optimizing your LinkedIn page. I already have LinkedIn and it was interesting to learn about how to get the most out of it. The main thing that was focused on, was personally replying to messages that are sent to you. I’ve had job offers through the website and I was always unsure of how to respond. Also, a useful tip was to reach out to guest speakers that you had met, just by sending them a message, you get a foot in the door and they may think of you at a later date. I hadn’t been on my profile for a long time, so it needed some freshening up. This talk inspired me to go home and make it more relevant, adding in the fact that I’m now at Baruch College for example and that my job title has changed. The people that ran the talk were friendly, and the presentation was clear. There was an opportunity for questions and we got to look at someone’s profile so we could see what a good profile looks like. I also hadn’t heard of the Marketing club, MOB, before, and I enjoyed experiencing more of the clubs on offer at Baruch. I am definitely looking to join a club next semester and I think that I would get something useful for life after college from a club like MOB.
