I already choose the classes I want and picked the teachers I liked. I’m scared that I won’t get all the classes I want so I’m going to make a backup schedule in case the classes are all taken. I still haven’t done the enrichment workshop yet but I’ll do that today.

Weekly Reflection
This week was quite stressful as I had a math quiz to study for and I was really stressed for it. My friend also got me to join the Student Government which is really cool and I’m just waiting for a new event to pop up so I can go out and help and hopefully organize some valid events for the school in the future. I also don’t like how some teachers have 0 grades put in and you really don’t know where you stand which makes me feel not so confident about all the previous work I’ve done and what I am doing is good. I’m also surprisingly doing really well in History, which was a subject I was scared for but I’m proud of myself. It’s also getting really cold so I have to get a new jacket soon!
Enrichment Workshop MET
I’ve always heard of the Met Museum but I’ve never actually been there until this week. It was actually a pleasant experience overall. Even just entering the Met, seeing all the works of arts that are in different sections is mind blowing. I decided to the Greek and Roman Art exhibition Because I’ve always been interested about the Greek gods and how they were. I saw a lot of statues but even more pictures specifically on vases. I saw one vase that stood out to me and it showed a Greek god dragging a bull by the horns. After reading the little description about it, I did a little more research on my phone and realized that the bull was related to the Minotaur , the half man half bull monster that destroyed people. Overall the museum was actually enjoyable, I would highly recommend it even if it’s not for a class assignment. Also I didn’t have to pay anything upon entering the exhibitions since I’m a CUNY student which was a bonus.
Sophie Ryan Enrichment Workshop
For my enrichment workshop, I went to an athletic event. I went to a Baruch women’s volleyball game vs Wilkes University. I went with my friends Alex, Gianna, and Cam. My friends and I took a bus to the event because it was in Jersey City, NJ. Honestly, it was a good game. The Baruch woman beat Wilkes 3-0. I was very impressed by the Baruch Woman’s Volleyball team because they were very seasoned. I was also impressed in general because when you think of Baruch, you think of business, not sports. Considering Baruch isn’t a big sports school, it was overall an excellent game. To me, volleyball is one of those games where it is exciting to play and watch. It is a very fast-paced game and I enjoy any sport that has quick movements and restarts. Seeing the game honestly made me miss volleyball. I used to play in 8th and 9th grade and I loved it. Volleyball requires so much skill and technical abilities that I don’t think many people realize. Anyone can hit a ball over a net, back and forth but there is a specific way in which you hit the ball in volleyball. The right way to bump, set, spike, and serve in volleyball requires a lot of skill and practice. Also, volleyball hurts, from what I remember. Even though you use knee pads, it still hurts when you slide and bang your knees on the ground. I actually remember having a lot of bruises on my legs from volleyball. Also sometimes when you hit the ball with your wrists/forearms, ( the correct way to hit a volleyball) you get a lot of bruises and red marks that actually leave you very sore for the next few days. Overall, going to the game was a very good experience for me. I enjoy sports in general but going to this game brought back good memories of when I used to play. I am happy I finally went to an athletic event at Baruch and I even may start to watch more volleyball in general because I had an overall good experience.
Weekly Reflection
I haven’t really went anywhere new. I mostly go to class and then go back home. It’s funny how i still go to Deli’s, instead of trying something new. I pick the same order of bacon egg and cheeses on a roll. Most of my friends know how boring I am with food. I hope to change that this year. Starting with eating more spicy food. I’ve always been made fun of for not being able to handle spicy food. Especially considering my parents are hispanic. I also hope to become more organized and be comfortable with the college life.
Sophie Ryan weekly relfection
This week was pretty good. I have become a lot better at not procrastinating and getting on top of my school work. I normally study in my dorm room but this past week I started studying in the study rooms in my dorm building and in the Baruch library. Doing this honestly helped me become more focused and I completed my work a lot quicker than normal. From now on I will continue to do that because it is helping me stay motivated and driven. One annoying thing that happened this week is that my fridge in my dorm room keeps leaking. Of course, when my roommate and I had the maintenance men come in to check it out, the fridge was not leaking so they did not believe us. It leaked this morning though, so I put another work order in to get it fixed. Hopefully, they fix it soon so I don’t have water on my floor every day anymore!
Weekly reflection
I haven’t had FYS in awhile, it’s always so different every class. Not complaining. This week the free period was alright. I wasn’t sure what to do but I was happy we finally got the promised Dunkin’ Donuts. The counseling was cool too, I signed up for an appointment that same day coincidentally so I got a lot of coinciding that day. I have an idea of what my schedules going to be this next semester. Besides the class I finally met my club members, and that was my week.
Weekly reflection
Last class we had 5 minutes to write something about oneself, after finish writing we had to present what we had written down. Each person had about 1 minute to speak. In overall I think this is a good practice for future presentations because once you get comfortable speaking in public then you can achieve better intonation and wont be afraid anymore.
weekly reflection #4
We haven’t had FYS class in a while. The days off have felt good but at the same time now I have to get back on my pace and grind. I have to remind myself to make sure to stay focused and on track in my school work. When you have a thousand things happening in your life, it is hard to make sure you get things done and don’t get distracted. In class we have still been continuing the monologues. Getting up in front of a whole room of people doesn’t get easy until you really practice it so I guess it’s good life experience. We’ll see how things go next week.
Weekly reflection #4
We went over peoples monologues and they presented a quick introduction of themselves. Feedback was given to the students of what they did good on and what they should improve on. It helped me learn more on what is expected from my monologue. Then we have a check up on how life was going regarding my academic, social, work and family life.
