The Peak Project
I went to MoMA and finally saw a painting I think is special to me on 3rd Floors of the museum. This painting called The Peak Project, and the artist is Zaha Hadid. In my first impression to look at the painting without any information like the title, I was thinking about this is an abstract painting. When I look carefully, I knew that is showing the building art in the mountain. If we look at the detail, we could see the high way is surrounding the architecture, and the cliff is artificial by mess construction. Hadid pursued that painting is a kind of related practice, so she usually put any thought in it. This painting is an re-constructional idea of the peak of Hong Kong. In the MoMA intro said: “Hadid proposed transforming the site by excavating the rocky hills in order to build artificial cliffs. In her painting she reimagines the topography by interjecting cantilevered beams and shard-like fragments that seem to splinter the structure into its myriad parts, as if it had been subjected to some powerful destabilizing force.” Although this great thinking is very progressive and advance, but some people point this is not practical and the owner who lives in this mountain think that is over-budgeted. Therefore, the peak project is never be selected by government. In other way, Hadid become famous because of she won the design competition by this painting.
