Nude Painting – Amedeo Modigliani
I love to take photographs. I usually look at art pieces to learn how to use angles and perspectives effectively. For that reason, I enjoy going to art museums to find inspiration. This time, I went to Solomon Guggenheim. This was my first time here, and the arts were hard to understand. I saw this nude painting of a woman (I forgot to take note the name of the painting) by Amedeo Modigliani. Out of hundreds of paintings that I saw, I was most impressed by this one. First of all, I got into human’s body recently. I shifted my focus on taking photos from mainly objects to portraits. The naked body of the woman was drawn beautifully. The way she lied down and placed her hands, together with the expression on her face created a peaceful feeling when looking at the painting. Secondly, I loved the angle. The woman body was drawn on a diagonal line, dividing the painting into half. Her curves were beautifully displayed. Lastly, I loved the simplicity and the colors. There was only a dark background, a white blanked, and her body. Colors were in minimal used and nicely balanced. There was a little bit more of red tone in the skin color which made the whole painting feel very warm.
