Race and Reunion certainly seems like an interesting book to read. David Blight writes about the details of the Civil War while showing the audience another insight. Blight specifically states that racism occurred while historians wrote about the Civil War story. Students taking history classes might benefit more from reading this book because it has the ability to open up their minds and think deeper into the other history events.
Eric Foner loves the book based on excessive compliments he input throughout the book review. Foner enjoys the book because Blight “tells this story in a lucid style and … indignation.” Historical memories differ from people to people because of the different ways people absorb the specific event. It’s important to have historical memories because they are there for us as a historical evidence and source. History was told partially by historical memories from people who survived from it. Nonetheless, history is placed on documents and videos and it is important to view the history in various ways and not only believe what we see.
