“Immigrant families were often given name changes”.

They were forced to chanage it because the workers on Ellis Island did not want o process families that had names with seventy-eight consonants.


Often children of immigrant families had to work in factories to provide salary for their families. The children were faced with poor living conditions and no freedom. This cartoon shows exploitation of the control of the child workforce.
