The Hollywood Ten

The Hollywood blacklist was a list of actors, writers, directors, musicians and other entertainers because of their political beliefs and associations, regardless of their validity. It was formed around the mid 20th century. In 1947, the Hollywood Ten were the first to be victims of this blacklist when they chose not to give their testimonies. They were all screenwriters or directors. They were banned from working in the entertainment industry until the blacklist was broken in 1960.

Due to their absence in Hollywood, we may have missed out on a decade of valuable entertainment. One of them could’ve written one of the best films or shows, but because they were banned, we will never know.
