Data Analysis
Before you start work on this stage, you must complete all the Statistics Quizzes (1 through 4) and score 70% or better in each. All quizzes are available on Blackboard. You can take each quiz as many times as you need to, but you must complete all attempts by the deadline. You will get zero credit for the assignments below if you do not complete this requirement.
In this stage you will complete two assignments: one group assignment and one individual assignment.
(a) Data Analysis assignment (group): You will meet with your group to discuss and agree on your group’s analysis plan. You will then work individually outside of class to complete the planned analysis, and meet again with your group to pool your findings, review them, and discuss your interpretations.
The deliverable for the assignment (one per group) is (a) a summary of your Full Sample Results, (b) your recommendations for management based on your Full Sample Results, and (c) a description of how you will segment your sample for the Segmentation analysis, including the sample size in each proposed segment and the rationale for pick those specific segmentation variables. This should be posted under the categories “Data Analysis” and your group number.
(b) Comments (individual assignment): Once all the group Data Analysis assignments have been posted online, you must (individually) post a comment on one other group’s assignment, consisting of suggestions for additional analysis and comments on their management recommendations (minimum 150 words). This will count towards your class participation grade. You may pick any other group’s project. Your comments must be original and not duplicate anyone else’s.
I will also add my comments to all the Data Analysis assignments. In this manner your group can learn from other students and take their comments and suggestions (and mine) into consideration before completing your final report and presentation, in the process making your final deliverable the best it can possibly be.
Guidelines for analyzing your data:
The analysis must be done using SPSS (spreadsheets such as Excel will not be adequate). There are two types of analysis that I expect each group to do: a Full Sample analysis, consisting of means and frequency distributions for each variable, and a Segmentation analysis, consisting of crosstabulations and t-tests. These will be explained and discussed in class.
While conducting the analysis, keep the organization’s marketing problem and decisions in mind. Make sure to do whatever analysis is needed to formulate recommendations that will achieve this goal.
