Blue Beauty also known as Lay Joseph is, a NYC Stripper. Being in City College for one Semester she realize that she didn’t have the funds to pay off tuition. She needed fast money and felt like the only way to make fast money is to become a stripper. It’s been two years now since she been dancing. She does not tend to be a stripper for the rest of her life but, as of now this is her occupation.
“Make the money and don’t let the money make you,” Lay says. “I like the movie players Club, that’s why I became a striper. Easy fast money and the come up is quick.”
The shots of Blue Beauty at the night club, preparing for work and counting her money are excellent. All the more reason, we want to know who she really is beyond her work as a stripper. We understand why she does this work but let us get to know her.
An interesting perspective of the person and I like the quote.
I think the photo of her counting the money is the strongest of the essay. I wish you would show us more of her living her every day life. The quote in your description suggests that stripping is just a means for a quick come up and not necessarily her passion in life.
Hey Shadae, I love your person story!! Great job showing the inside life of a stripper.. You did such a great job you have motivated me to become one.. LOL just kidding!
Can you do an interview with her and get some answers to basic questions such as:
– What are her weekly earnings?
– How may nights a week does she work?
– Where is the club located and what is the clientele like? The fact that we see singles dollar bills scattered about the stage seems to indicate it’s not a fancy, high paid club where you’d likely see much larger denominations.
– Where did she go to college?
– Does she intend to return to college or what are her future plans?
– Does her family know about her work?
