See below for information about accommodating any of the following:
1. Learning Differences
3. Religious Observations
If you have any kind of different learning styles, needs, or circumstances that might affect your work and participation in this class, please let me know within the first week of class. If you have not worked out any alternative work plans within the first week of class, you will be held responsible for the same requirements listed on this syllabus as everyone else.
If you or a dependent has a critical health emergency that prevents you from attending class or completing assignments, the first thing you should do is take care of yourself and/or your dependent. When you are able you should procure documentation for the emergency from a medical provider, and then you should contact me so that we can make arrangements for the possible completion of assignments.
Please know that some emergencies have serious ongoing effects, and the best possible accommodation may be for you to withdraw from the course. Please speak with me and/or your academic advisor before making any serious decisions.
Other emergencies: You are stranded in travel outside of the NYC area, there is a death in your immediate family, a pipe bursts in your apartment right before you’re leaving for class. The same policy applies as for health emergencies, but once again, if you are experiencing ongoing or multiple emergencies, we may need to discuss the benefits of withdrawing from the course.
If you observe religious holy days or practices that conflict with meeting times or due date, you must tell the professor within the first week of your enrollment in the class. At that time the instructor will make arrangements, which you will be expected to uphold. Note: At times I may give extensions for assignments. While I will try to keep in mind people’s particular schedules, remember that extensions are a gift. If the extension falls in a conflict time, you should plan to turn your assignment in earlier.
If you are a Baruch athlete, you should provide me with a schedule of your away games including any potential tournament/playoff/championship games.
