Weekly Reflection

I finessed my math test yesterday which was a blessing since I actually studied for it. I have my history test coming up and my english essay is due today and i have a history quiz tomorrow as well as a communications quiz and I need to make two more backup schedules incase i don’t get the classes i want. Honestly I did this whole college thing wrong like can I restart?? It’s fine it’s whatever I’m getting my nails done this weekend so I’m hype about that.

Weekly Reflection #6

This week has been good so far. We’re halfway through the semester and I’m excited to see how the rest of it will play out. We presented our monologues today in class and while I know mine was short, I was able to present something which I was satisfied with. I enjoyed everyone’s monologue because they shared a bit about themselves and some of them were amusing. This upcoming Thursday is Halloween and while I don’t celebrate by dressing up, I wonder whether other students at Baruch will.

Weekly Reflection

Time really flies and my midterms are basically all done with! This week I haven’t done much but go study and come back home like usual. I also am trying to plan my next classes for the semester which is a little painful. I also got my first essay grade back and it was a B and I guess I’m not too upset about it as I usually am one of the worst writers you will ever meet. I’ve also just been chilling and enjoying life and still looking for new shoes to add to my collection as I really have a hobby for sneakers and probably will have my monologue based around this. Some people wouldn’t really understand but everyone has their own thing that makes them happy.

Weekly reflection

Today we had a brief practice with our monologues where our teacher picked the students that haven’t presented and she gave comments. I think it was very helpful for some of them so that they can use the advice for the real monologue. Later on, once we finished we were given papers where there were required classes that we must take throughout the years but the teacher gave us advice whether which one we should take for next semester so that we won’t be lost nor have classes we don’t want to be in. I think that was really helpful because we were able to get help without making an appointment, but anyways we must see our advisor so that we could ask questions or concerns!

Weekly reflection

Days are passing so fast that I don’t know what to feel about it. I still remember as if it was yesterday the first day I stepped Baruch, and now I’m already half way done with one semester. The weather is getting colder and rainy which it not really that nice. Recently I’ve been having several exams in one week, and to think that final exams are soon makes me so nervous.

Enrichment Workshop: Social

On October 3rd, 2019 I took the liberty of going to an extracurricular event during club hours. I got to sit in on a Caribbean clubs of Baruch’s general interest meeting. When I first arrived I had already subconsciously placed myself in the mindset to stay to myself throughout the meeting. However, everyone there was friendly and I was able to make friends. It was very open and welcoming and had a huge turn out of interested students to say the least. There were a lot of freshmen at the interest meeting. To break the awkward silence and create a more comfortable mood one of the club leaders decided we would do an ice breaker to find some common ground between us all. I ended up playing rock, paper, scissors with two of my friends and one other girl who we met at the interest meeting who was very nice. Without going to this interest meeting, I would not have learned how open and inviting the club atmosphere is. After playing the ice breaker the three Caribbean club leaders introduced their groups and some of the exciting things that will be happening this year. Within this meeting they discussed a fashion show ,which I would definitely be interested in, is in coordination to happen soon. As the presentations from the club leaders  came to an end they announced that we would be doing another group activity before we would get some authentic carribean food. This really helped me get out of my self imposed shell and interact with different people around me while we were eating. We were supposed to rank the items of importance when shipwrecked and lost at sea. The group then closest to the actual items and their importance would get a prize. This activity wasn’t really my favorite because I thought some of the items on the list were unlikely to even be on a boat and was therefore unrealistic. Nevertheless the activity ended and it was time for the music in food, which in my opinion was the best part. We were served chicken oxtail mac and cheese and plantains which I can describe as absolutely delicious. Overall my time in the Caribbean club was definitely one to remember and I will be attending more meetings in order to get more involved in the bearcat community!

Weekly Reflection 10/28

This past week i have taken probably 5 tests, and studying for all of them is tiring. Im still doing well in all my classes n I hope after the tests that I still am. There are moments i wish i had went away for college, my friends don’t seem to get even half the amount of work I do. I already registered for my classes next semester so i hope to be even more prepared for the work load.

weekly relfection

This week was pretty good. I didn’t have too much work, which was good. But  I had my philosophy midterm, which was the only downside to my week. I studied a lot though, so I think I did well. It was my only midterm for this semester, which was definitely a good thing. I went home for half of the weekend and it was nice to catch up with my family. I missed my sister because I feel like I haven’t seen her in forever. I see my parents more than her because my dad works in the city and my mom comes here a lot to visit. I also missed my cats. My kitten Bean is getting so big and I wish I was there to witness it. I also like going home because my mom stocks me up with anything I need, like paper towels, toothpaste, detergent, etc.

Enrichment workshop- Academic

For my latest enrichment workshop, me and a couple of friends decided we would pay a visit to the Student Academic Consulting Center ( also known as SACC) which provides tutoring for many subjects in which students are having trouble comprehending or keeping up with work. What is really interesting is that tutors are actual Baruch students who have previously excelled in the subjects that they are now helping others in. I think its a great idea to have fellow Baruch colleagues help each other out as I think it’s true that we learn best from other students. I think that it is essential for Baruch to provide students with a tutoring center as a lot of the time professors are busy when class is not in session therefore they can not provide much one on one counseling with students as much as one would like. That is why I appreciate something like the SACC office as they provide all Baruch students with reliable help which can come on crucial moments like these past few days as we are in the middle of midterms. In order for a student to receive tutoring, one must first make an appointment online and choose a subject from the many available in which they wish to receive help in. Becoming a tutor requires submitting an application and I think it’s great that Baruch uses this in order to provide Baruch students with job opportunities as they pay the tutors. Becoming a tutor is something that I will definitely look into in the years to come more specifically a math tutor as it is the subject I am more comfortable helping others in. I know that becoming a tutor will allow me to help struggling students which I appreciate because I have experienced being in that struggling situation in some of my classes and I know how much tutors are important during these times of need.

Enrichment Workshop #2: Academic

Alright so this is my second Enrichment Workshop. This time around I decided to do the Academic aspect. Above or below (wherever the picture ends up) is me at the most amazing place (no sarcasm) aka the Metropolitan Museum. Wow I had a great time here (again, no sarcasm) looking at many upon many paintings that just resonated with my soul. I saw things ranging from the war of the planets and allegories (is that the name??) to the toilette of venus, and even the girl who dropped a basket of eggs. Now throughout my entire experience at the museum, I think the most interesting part was finding certain paintings throughout the museum. I had a lot of fun running around and asking people who looked like they were from the movies to direct me in the right direction, and then use a map to find the room. I really liked the layout of the rooms, I felt like I was walking through a maze of beautiful creations. I feel like I should be extremely grateful that these wonderful creations were bestowed upon us, and that I was able to witness them with such ease. Did I mention that I got into the Metropolitan Museum for any price I wanted? Yes I did, I got in for 5 cents. Epic. Moving on I had to find my way out, this was a struggle, not only because I was lost but also due to the fact that I just wanted to stay there forever. Definitely. Finally once I got out I went to sit by the fountain and just reminisce on my experience during my visit to the most amazing place on earth. It was a very enlightening experience, however I think it was so enlightening that once was enough. Two Words. This image requires alt text, but the alt text is currently blank.
