This past week we had someone from the STARR Career Center come to speak to us about what it is. We were all able to pick up great information on everything that it has to offer. Thankfully, I was able to understand that Baruch has something for everyone and that I can utilize all it has through the app called Simplicity.

Weekly Writing 11/5
Last class we had a speaker from the STARR center come talk to us about exploring the STARR center resources. It was very interesting because as I already stated I am looking for a new part time job. I plan on visiting soon so I can get some help with my resume and my job search.
Weekly reflection 11/5
Last week in FYS i learned more about the uses of starr and received a paper full of important events. It was a pretty productive day in that retrospec and i feel i took away greater knowledge in how to use baruch’s resources to my advantage. I even learned more about the lesson in the minors and majors fair because the same lady was there and open to expand upon what she talked about. Nonetheless a great class
Weekly Reflection 11/5
This week we had one of more important FYS sessions. With a speaker from the Starr Career Development Center, I got to learn more about the many ways of progressing on my career path with the help of Starr resources. One of the most important things I learned from that session was the Symplicity app and how to use it as a Baruch student. I’ve applied to 2 internships so far through Symplicity so I really appreciate what I learned from this session.

Last week’s FYS class was different than the other ones. We went to a lecture hall and had someone from the STARR career center speak to us about all the opportunities that are presented for us to take advantage of. I wasn’t informed about a lot of the information that she mentioned, including mock interviews and help with creating a well organized resume. I definitely will be looking into the center for guidance when it comes to taking my career to the next step. This week’s class was informative and I’m glad to know about all the details right at my first semester here at Baruch.

Overall, last week has been easy going. Last week’s class involved a speaker from the STARR career center coming in to benefits the center has to offer. It was great because the center is free and offers a range of benefits to help students succeed. The center offers mock interviews, career counseling, jobs, academic advise, and more. After the session I visited the center and found lots of helpful sheets including upcoming jobs, workshops, guides to majors, and more. The website also had helpful links including Vault which I used during an appointment I had at the center. Knowing that this center is easily accessible will help me throughout my years at Baruch and I’ll continue to use their services.

This week FYS class was different from the ones before. We wen´t to a lecture hall which is bigger than the classroom we usually go to. There was a woman speaking about things you can do at Baruch that I didn´t know you could. She talked about internships and writing a resume, which was quite interesting because I finally learn what an “internship” is actually about. I found out that there are so many different departments in which I can go and ask for help. In conclusion I feel like that class was what I needed before ending my first semester in college.
Weekly Reflection #7
The last freshman year seminar class was a bit different. We went to one of the big lecture halls and had someone explain to us all what the STARR center has to offer. To me this was really helpful because before this past Tuesday I had no idea what STARR was, and I feel it can be really helpful in my future. I intend to go to at least a couple workshop before this semester ends. I also learned that there is an App called Simplicity and from what I have been able to see it is really helpful for anything related to the internships Baruch has to offer. It was overall a very informative class and I am sure all their tools will be helpful in a future.

This week was pretty good. I had a lot of work though, so I stayed up very late almost every day of the week. At FYS, a woman from the STARR center came and she spoke about the STARR career center and the programs they offer. I knew the STARR center was good but listening to the woman speak, I realized how much the center has to offer. After realizing how much they offer, my friend, Alex, and I went to a STARR career workshop that day. The workshop was taking a headshot for Linkedin. I am really happy I took a headshot because now I feel ahead of the game. My dad always told me to create a Linkedin profile as soon as possible so I can begin making connections as soon as possible. I am happy I participated in a STARR workshop because it gave me an advantage for my Linkedin profile and future.
Weekly reflection #6
Today someone from the STARR center came and explained everything about the center. I found it very useful and she was very informative. I already visited the Starr center but she told me a bunch of new information that I never knew before. Like the symplicity app she told us to download. I know for a fact I am going to be going back for my Resume and if I need help for interviews.
