This video represents the black cultural community of the Harlem Renaissance. The song is by Cab Calloway, a popular black American jazz singer and band leader. The song in this video is called “Minnie the Moocher” and it was so successful that it sold over a million copies. It was produced in 1931. He was among many of the singers who flourished and was associated with the New York’s artistic mainstream. He was an example who rejected many of the black stereotypes that occurred at that time.
