In communication class, I learned how social media affects our lives. One of the unique ways we delved into the material is by creating mind maps for each chapter. It not only helped me summarize each chapter but also improve our thoughts and ideas to connect them with those of other chapters. Moreover, it is easy to review chapters by looking at the mind maps. In a history class, most people try to memorize historical facts and events to prepare for tests. However, if we utilize mind maps in a history class, it is possible to draw pictures to remind ourselves about historical facts and events chronologically. Thus, mind mapping is a valuable tool that we can apply to other classes.
We also created “wiki’s” to summarize chapters and highlight key words from the book. This class activity helped students to collaborate by reviewing someone else’s work. It generated group coordination to inspire new creations. If we created wikis in economics classes, we could talk about economics issues every day. It would cause students to read newspapers and help them to know economic issues for everyday life.
Finally, we contributed to a course blog. Students need to write blog posts and comment about our class. It gave students a chance to write and think about our class. I believe that this would be helpful in finance classes. There are many theories and calculation problems in finance class. Students can write the various theories in the field. Also, other students can point out some one’s work and offer comments and critiques. It gives students the chance to write and consider how we think about certain topics. Thus, I believe that it will be helpful for students to present their thoughts in this manner.
Through this class, I have learned a lot of things that I did not expect, but I wish we could create a social media platform/outlet such as Facebook or Twitter to see how people can connect with each other on the Web. The professor could open a course account, and students could start to update it with course work and discuss amongst followers.
I believe that people who use social media are better able to develop their life than people who don’t use it. Social media is the new way to collaborate, share, and communicate with people from all over the world which helps to strengthen relationships. On the other hand, someone who commits cybercrime or gets a mental illness from using social media is a loss in this situation because they are using it in the wrong way and experience the downfall of using.
Teenagers are able to exploit social media. They do this by posting videos as a way to express themselves and show the world who they are. After that, companies will try to reach out to teenagers who generated videos and posts that have a lot of followers to make money. It turns social media into another toy for teenagers.
Most teenagers don’t know how to utilize the social media. In this video, we can see teenagers who become really successful through social media but these teens are only a small fraction of the vast amount of people who use social media. Many teenagers utilize social media to play around instead of reaching out for help. This is because teenagers won’t know how to judge what is right and wrong without any advice from someone such as teachers and parents.
We know that social media tools are the best way to interact with each other users on the internet. According to the USA today, Thirty-five percent of adults on the internet now have a profile on at least one social networking site, and 51 percent have more than one. Three-quarters of users between the ages of 18 and 24 have and online profile. It means that we need to know what the benefit of social media tools is in order to improve our lives. Nowadays, many students carry more than one digital device such as laptop and PC tablet and they prefer to use this device in class. As I am a college student, I am always thinking that does digital device help students to improve their college education. Even though there are many positive effect of using digital device in class, but I don’t recommend students to use digital devices in classroom. One of the biggest reasons is that it is easy to be disrupted by digital device. Most students who try to use laptop or tablet in class are doing something else as well such as shopping and facebook. As time goes by, they will focus on what they have been up to instead of listing lecture. Moreover, other students will also be disrupted by watching what he or she is doing through digital device. Thus, I believe that it is better not to use digital device in class.

I believe that most people are using Wiki. A wiki is a website where multiple users can add, remove, and edit content on each page by only using a web browser. This makes it extremely easy to collaborate with people, even if they cannot meet face to face. If so, what is the advantages and disadvantages of using Wiki. Most people have tried to capture the importance of social media. I just wonder what is the biggest advantage and disadvantage of social media. I think that one of the biggest advantages of social media is that it is able to bring people from all over the world to share their idea and though which means that geographical locations are no barrier to gather. On the other hand, the biggest problem is that people will know what you write, share, and create, i.e, when you make a mistake through online, hundreds or thousands of people will know. In order to get social media’s full effect, we have to understand how it works, when, and how to use it and which channels to focus on so that we can be aware of how to use it most valuable ways.

When I read the chapter 1, i realized the importance of education at home and school.
In the story, her family members and friends took her side and made excuse to help her.

Nowadays, most of teenagers grow up with social media but they don’t know what the right way to use it is. It is because they are too young to distinguish what is the right or wrong when they use social media. Moreover, they can do whatever they want to do in social media without any notification from. Therefore, it is better to teach our children how it works, when and how to use it and which cannels to focus on."
