Located in Brooklyn, Intermediate School 14 or “Shell Bank Junior High” is surrounded by a terrible environment. It is located next to Sheepshead Bay High School and is across the street  from public housing project. Because of that, Shell Bank has gained a bad reputation, which worries parents when they hear the name. However, this is the time when people shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. Under the administration of Principal Teri Ahearn, Shell Bank has changed and improved dramatically; it is very much different from I experienced 8 years ago. The school developed a culture where students find their passion and teachers go extra miles to innovate the school education. When I asked some of the 8th graders about the one thing that they like about the school, they often reply back with these words, “opportunities and teachers”.
