Alex Hargrove is a Wilmington, North Carolina – native, who moved to New York City for college in 2007. He has been a musician his whole life and has been in two major bands. When he was in middle and high school he was in a band in Wilmington called, “Stab N’ Grab,” and he is currently in a rock/metal band called, “Tacklesnatch.” His band is one of the most important things in his life – they have practice like clockwork every week and prepare for recordings and gigs. The other part of his life is his rescue pitbull, Earl. He took Earl in after he was left out during Hurricane Sandy and has never regretted it.
“I found Earl after Hurricane Sandy; he was left out on the streets by his previous owners.”
“I wasn’t really in a place to get a pet, but once I heard his previous owners abused him, I just had to keep him.”
“I find some peace walking in the park [Prospect Park] at night with Earl. I can just think about the day I had and what else is coming up.”
“When I was a kid, I broke my leg one summer, so I couldn’t play sports with all my friends. My mom felt bad and asked what instrument I wanted to take up, and I chose the bass.”
“I’m in a rock/metal band with four of my buddies and it’s mostly like a hobby but man, I wish I could do this full-time. That would be the dream.”
“Because we don’t make a living off of the band, I do have a 9-5, you know, I have to pay the rent.”
“It is a nice change going to work in a suit and tie every day, but yeah if I had my way, I would love to be on tour with the band. “
