Felicia Rose Chavez, author of the Anti-Racist Writing Workshop is coming to CUNY for a two part anti-racist pedagogy seminar that is open to everyone at CUNY. Folks can come to one or both sessions (February 8 and/or February 16)

You may have seen or heard about new guidance from the university about having students on camera during live class sessions. Simply summarized, faculty may not require students to turn on their cameras, they must obtain consent from students to be recorded, and they must inform students of these things both in the syllabus and in person. In this conversation, we will have an open discussion about how to meet the requirements in a way that aligns with your course goals. We welcome your experiences and the strategies you’ve used to make your class sessions more active and student-centered, with or without cameras on.

In this conversation session, we’ll talk about asking students to write reflections—alongside assignments or generally about the course. Having students reflect on their experience of learning concepts or completing assignments can help us understand how they’re navigating our courses.
