Assistant Director for Writing in Public and International Affairs
Melina Moore has been dedicated to enhancing student writing and communication across the curriculum at Baruch since 2017, when she first joined the Bernard L. Schwartz Communication Institute as a Communication Fellow. In her current role as Assistant Director for Writing in Public and International Affairs, she fosters the teaching and learning of writing in the Marxe Graduate School through embedded curriculum development, co-curricular workshops, one-to-one writing consultations, and faculty pedagogical support. She is especially interested in designing writing programming tailored to the needs of graduate student learners and cultivating accessible and inclusive learning environments.
Before joining Baruch, Melina taught first-year writing and literature courses at Brooklyn College and Stern College for Women. She also served as a Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Fellow at Medgar Evers College. She holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from the CUNY Graduate Center and earned her BA from Smith College. Her doctoral research explored representations of queer and trans individuals in mid-20th century American pulp paperbacks and subscription-based periodicals.
