For the midterm project, I will analyze Cesar Vallejo’s poem “Los Heraldos Negros”.  I will analyze the versions translated by Rebecca Seiferle and Margaret Sayers Peden

Para el midterm he decidido analizar el breve cuento de Jorge Luis Borges titulado “Borges y Yo”. Las traducciones que analizare seran de James E. Irby (1964) y Andrew Hurley (1960).

Para el midterm voy a analizar “No Hay Olvido” de Pablo Neruda. Analizare  las traducciones de Ben Belitt y Mark Eisner ” There’s no forgetting.”

Para el midterm he escogido un poema de Pablo Neruda titulado “Me Gusta Cuando Callas.” Este fue publicado en Veinte Poemas de Amor y una Cancion Desesperada.

He escogido analizar  las traducciones del poema de Neruda de los autores W.S. Merwin y Robert Hass, e intento describir las diferencias de esta interpretaciones.

For the midterm, I will be translating Pablo Neruda’s, “Puedo Escribir Los Versos Mas Tristes.” The two translations I will be evaluating are, “I Can Write the Saddest Lines Tonight,” by A.S. Klein, and, “Tonight I Can Write,” by Charles W Johnson.

For the midterm project, I will be comparing  the translated versions of Trilce XXXVIII from Cesar Vallejo. I’ll be analyzing the translation of Clayton Eshleman in The complete poetry : a bilingual edition and the one of Michael Smith and Valentino Gianuzzi in Selected Poems .

He escogido al autor Pablo Neruda para el proyecto de mediados de semestre (midterm). EL poema que escogí es del libro 100 sonetos de amor, es el soneto XVII, también conocido como “No te amo como si fueras rosa de sal…”, con sus respectivas traducciones por Mark Eisner (The Essential Neruda: Selected Poems) y  Stephen Tapscott (100 love sonnets by pablo neruda)

I will be comparing the translations between Arturo Sánchez y Federico Revilla (1974), and the version from Carlos Obligado 2004.
