Down By Jay Sean

In this song, Jay Sean is telling his lady friend how to overcome hardships. It’s all about how when you fall down, getting back up is the most important thing. The main message throughout is perseverance. When someone is in a bad place, you need to find that one thing to bring you back up and in this song, Jay Sean is telling that to his lady friend. “Baby, are you down, down, down, down, down?Down, down, Baby, are you down, down, down, down, down? Down, down
Even if the sky is fallin’ down? When your down, the light will bring you back up so NEVER GIVE UP!

Introduction

Hello Baruch administrators, faculty, and alumni. Being a student at Baruch College, I want to let you know of the improvements that Baruch can make. Firstly, students who live in the dorms are pretty far from school and have to take the subway every day. Taking subways are expensive and annoying. If there was a way to get a shuttle bus to pick the students up from the dorms, that would be ideal. Also, the elevators in the Lawrence and Eris building are horrible. It takes 10 minutes for them to show up on your floor and you end up wasting valuable time. Lastly, Baruch College has hardly any greenery and it’s a big issue. Most people would benefit from a greenery space outside of our campus. Overall, I believe that there are some issues that need to be looked at in detail. Thanks and enjoy!

Legalizing Drugs by Vidal

According to Gore Vidal, drugs are to be available to people and sold in stores. He thinks that pot is good for you and is not a “big time drug”. Most of Vidal’s statements are arrogant and untruthful. He even admitted that he has tried every drug on the street. No wonder he is writing a persuasive essay on why drugs should be legalized. In addition, Vidal states that the government will lose money if marijuana and other drugs were legalized. I disagree with all of Vidal’s points and don’t think that we should legalize harmful and sometimes deadly drugs (such as heroine). According to a new government study, through the last decade, heroin-related deaths remained more common in New York than opioid painkiller-related deaths. In 2013, heroin overdose caused 6.2 deaths per 100,000 New Yorkers, the highest rate in a decade. To sum up, drugs should not be legalized and nobody should ever do heroin.

Reagan speech

President Reagan farewell speech was one hell of a speech. His words of wisdom brought peace within everyone listening to the speech. He spoke a lot about national morality and the economy. These two topics were most meaningful for Reagan. Reagan was very prideful and loved the spotlight. Nothing held Reagan back from speaking his mind. He mentioned the “city upon a hill” excerpt and explained how people will come together as a whole and share the same moral values. This was very vital part to his message. Reagan told the people what they wanted to hear and sent a strong message to all.

The food is awful!

Esteemed administrators and faculty, fellow students, and members of the Baruch community, the food sucks! It’s too expensive. It’s not good quality. It’s not what we paid for. It should be better. We work hard and expect a decent meal. Not asking much. Get it done. C’mon man.

Howard Needham Response

Howard Needham of Silver Spring, Md. has been making and repairing violins, violas, cellos and guitars since a visit to a repair shop sparked a career change in the early 1970s. He had a strong passion for music and woodwork. Needham is a diligent man. He does what he loves to do. This is something that most people nowadays pursue after but end up living another type of life. Listening to his music was very pleasant and put be in a relaxing state. I have loved classical music ever since my dad introduced it to me as a kid. He told me how it relaxes people and helps them focus and do work. Overall, Howard Needham’s music is very soothing for me and gives me the ability to do this assignment.

He started working on music in the late 20’s, which is very rare for a violin artist. I thought it was interesting how he not only plays violin, but he also workshops and fixes up instruments as well. He was a master at what he did. The article mentioned how well he fixed up instruments that are very difficult to repair. He is quoted saying that “I would do it even if there was no money involved”. This showed me how he really just loved to play violin and had a hunger for music. Most people only care about fame, money, and power. Needham doesn’t mind not having those things. I thought that that was a key component of the man’s success. He didn’t have to be Mozart; he could just be Howard Needham.
