For the remix project so I have a few variations of an idea that I want to do. I want to make a podcast speaking about various issues us men go through. Whether it be growing up in ill environments and well have some biggie playing in the back. I’m still thinking who would be the perfect person to do this. I’m thinking my bestfriend because he also was raised in a rough neighborhood. Now I am not too sure if I want an interview based podcast like Joe Rogan or just two friends speaking. I might have a visualizer in the back or an animation every time we talk . Now I need to know how specific it is going to be geared towards my topic specifically. Whether it be preparation questions or dissecting the lyrics.

In order to understand my paper i asked my friend and fellow peer that also takes this class just with a different professor. When I told expressed my summary aloud and he was taking notes the process took 15 minutes. When he was taking notes he realized that I was very into the topic. But it was also some topics that I didn’t even mention in the essay. For example I spoke about personal experiences as a black man in American society , However, I had nothing relating to that in my essay. That was my first analyzing of his notes. The next and final major thing that I noticed was that in his notes he said that my form of speaking and writing felt completely different. I should incorporates my own voice alot more

As previously mentioned in class before New York was already going through a period of fiscal crisis and was in dire need of money during the 70’s. This stemmed from the concept of neoliberalism and its effect on an urban area. Reed analyzes this and then speaks on the “retrenchment period”. The author notices that we are simply dealing with problems we didn’t create. Both the retrenchment period and COVID created extreme impacts which directly and majorly was geared towards CUNY students and staff. They both imposed tuition increases less money overall for the rest. Now one was created from poverty and the other from greed which represents their differences.
Death cult is used as a reference to the retrenchment period and once again the neoliberalistic policies as mentioned earlier. A free school system shouldn’t have been viewed as a potential investment for Austeric policies. Rather should be considered as a platform for education nd potential for easy socioeconomic mobility.
Inclusivity is the main thing mentioned by Lehman has over a 55 percent Hispanic undergrad population . However, the education they are being served is a mainly privatized white version of history. Instead of more white teachers there should be a plethora of people of color teacher. In my opinion, I asked my girlfriend who also attends Lehman college. She only has one black professor and when asked she mentioned that her comfortably skyrocketed when she was introduced to her. Her entire history seemed like it had proper representation and it was a case of inclusivity, making her feel like this is a safe space.
For some reason I can upload the media so if you want to see my poster the link is below.

How Difficult Mental Health Can be: Biggie
The piece of art I choose to work on was the song “Suicidal thoughts” by Biggie. This artist managed to properly depict the mental health and it directly correlates with the concept of how important your childhood surroundings are gonna be towards your adult hood. Also, how essential it is that being a young black man in America comes with certain traumas that can greatly impact the rest of your lives. He gets into the nitty gritty of his regrets as a husband and as a son while goes into the extremes of his depression. He doesn’t want to accept this love from his surroundings due to ingenuineness. He is scarred from the mistakes hes made in his past, yet willing to lay it all out on a song.
As soon as I noticed what the topic was really asking for, immediately this was my first choice, I love that this wasn’t a generic suicide prevention song and actually ends in the deepest end of the hole. Death.
A potential thesis; This artist work attempts to shed light on his personal mental health issues and leads Segway into a deeper conversation about suicide in black men.

The piece of art I choose was David Wojnarowicz “Untitled”
- He uses a multitude of rhetorical properties that attribute to its meaning. One major thing was his choice of using a picture of himself. When you hear him mention all these things and in the end he ties all together with saying he will receive this mistreatment in a few years. Sort of a foreshadow, yet this kid is smiling with his messed up teeth, white and black box button up. In addition, he has the words perfectly covering the outer layer of his body, trying not to mess with the image of himself. Finally, the picture was done in black and white even though color was already around at the time of this. I feel as if he did this on purpose to give the reader a more bland feeling, easily being able to focus on something no distractions unless done on purpose.
- This text purposely speaks on the issue of homophobia and how innocents being gay actually is. Initially its just a child, who plays and makes mistakes loved unconditionally and simply because of his desires he is viewed in a complete different light. So because it was against the norm he was being punished similarly to disproportioned communities. Of course the major community being the LQBTQ same sex marriage is now here but still are being perpetuated and have hate crimes against them. Simply because of their preference.
- Art can simply change everyone’s perspective on a political issue. When dealing with this you must think of how a depiction of something persuades someone, If you see the picture of the consequences of police brutality, or a man kneeling on another neck of your same race. You feel anger or any type of very strong emotion, resulting in a shifted perspective on something

Initially looking at my paper I noticed that my sentences were simplistic at first but then as the themes in the paper expand so does my form f writing. It becomes more complex and compound sentence. One main example of this was midway in my main paragraph where i compared two separate ideas and my from of writing reflects that. I use a comma right after an independent clause. I also used the worth “yet” often to show disparities between my analyzing of two topics. Now with my next revision ill make sure to enhance this but not overbear. I still feel that simple sentences still need their purpose and are there for a reason. While I want to add a more sophisticated look by using better sentence structure, I Still want my voice to be the main viewpoint of the essay so keeping that will be new.
Black And White English
In simpleton terms Jordan finds it even laughable that Nixon describes his entry to a nation in that quote. He simply needed a way to justify hiss reasoning for wanting to go into another nation. This is simply a cover up to persuade public opinion, similar to when we spoke about Bush in class. And how his reasoning for invading middle eastern countries was to “save the women of Islam”. Also when speaking of the language he uses specifically this is what she determines “white” or “standard English” Saying one thing with the word that have positive connotations, yet it is really to cover up their true intentions. In this case being the pursuit of communism, but lets label it as an “unselfish act from a nation”.
This quote is really depicting the actual power and how the use of language is a way of controlling everyone else. To get anywhere in America you must know a standard English. You must be able to speak properly if you even want a proper chance. For instance many minorities have a thing called code switch, where we sound more “white” on purpose to fulfill our needs either quicker or even have a chance at the opportunity. In addition, Jordan mentions that we should have a way of learning black English, She thinks that the use of standard English is essentially a threat against the identity of so many others in America. You having to conform directly erases your culture and use of you other language. Finally, having this as our standard says one thing “we’re right you’re wrong”.
Blog 2 Neo Liberalism
Hello
My name is Edryan and as a Mount Vernon resident and being really close to the Bronx I have first hand seen the effects of Neo Liberalism and gentrification. I was raised mainly in the Bronx so seeing the rapid change of project buildings being “renovated” in exchange to have wealthier families and usually non persons of color to essentially replace these the resident already. For example, in my father building in which he still currently lives the buildings purchased from someone else and made anew. With the reservations came this increase hijacked rent and price where it was risen tremendously. Being in the 1970’s with extreme economic and political troubles business elites came this sense to having different austerity policies as we mentioned in class in with graffiti and this is where the world of privatization came from. We now rent out certain places that used to contain small business and give them off to studios for higher businesses. In worst cases these decisions can even lead to the homelessness or displacements of certain individuals. they can literally not afford to live after essentially being kicked out from their businesses or home. In addition, near my home there was a project that really impacted a lot of thing it was called Mount Vernon’s Sandford Boulevard Redevelopment Project. It made allowed more major businesses to come to Mount Vernon including Target, Staples e.t.c. It also took over a lot of smaller businesses and was even under fire for a very long time from neighboring counties(pelham manor) for the increased traffic it would bring, the very dramatic increase of population and congestion, and the way it would effect these smaller businesses, yet, they still lost and it went through. Even though, Dickson did mention many things like this there is always two sides to every story. This project did bring forth much new jobs and did overall help the struggling economy within Mount Vernon. So of course both stories have to be heard.

Hello
My name is Edryan Canario, I am a Dominican American and this is my second semester as a freshman at Baruch college. I’m currently a finance major with no plan of changing it. I feel like I am personally a very extroverted person and love meeting new people along with doing new things. I take pride in my accomplishments and really just want to become successful. That’s where this picture above comes from, I feel like it really represents me as a person and despite having obstacles for whatever reason you still my overcome them. In addition, me personally i find this image perfect because it shows the full face of adversity. Many people including myself a long time ago, viewed success and a negative thing and didn’t really take it for what it was. Now I know that success isn’t all glamorous and glitter it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice “under the water” or hidden from everyone else’s views. Another reason why it resonates with me is because of my personal issues I’ve had in the past. When dealing with certain problems whether it be money, family, love life etc. I tend to just want to get it over with and wish that I could become successful overnight. However, I noticed that success isn’t an overnight type of thing, I have to grind for it if I really want it. Finally, It seems simple but it artistic presence is there with the naked eye being viewed and the underwater trying to be considered hidden. If you really want it just know persistence is key.
