The photograph above represents on how I really feel inside and how I keep my composure. I am never bothered by anything negative or phased by situations I always remain calm and focused on the bigger matters on hand.

Hello my name Luilly Jaquez and I am currently a freshman at Baruch College. Im on my second semester and I am majoring in finance. This major really spoke to me and is one of my life goals to be financially free and  to enjoy life while doing so. I chose Baruch College due to it having one of the best business programs in New York State. My dream is to earn enough income to help me help those that I care about and also for me to enjoy on myself with experiences and pleasure. I love music as well I usually listen to rap music and artists such as J. Cole, $not, and A boogie wit da Hoodie. I tend to listen to music while I am alone and it makes me relax and feel at ease. I look at music as language where you can change your moods to how you want to feel. Mostly as well that poetry that lies in music fascinates with the word play and rhymes most artists use. I am also a huge fan of the outdoors and engaging in activities like hiking and watching nature. To me it is another to meditate and alleviate stress. I want to travel countries in the future and see all of the different landmarks around the world. Batman is my favorite cartoon superhero due to how much I relate to him on a personal level. He embodies how you can do so much while just being human and that speaks out loud to me.

Hello

My name is Angel Morales and  I’m a freshman at Baurch college. I’m on my second semester and I’m majoring in accounting. I was also thinking in majoring finance or economics but I felt like accounting is where a lot of money can be made and I can use the money from an accounting job to get my business going. I chose Baruch college because I always wanted to someday own my business and become financially free by the age of 30-35. I felt that Baruch college would be able to help me reach that goal since its a business school.  Baruch College was always a college I wanted to get into because it is one of the top schools for business. My dream was to own business that don’t require much work and just get that passive income so my family doesn’t have to worry much about money. I’m trying to have many business like notary, tax, a laundromat, car wash and a couple other ones. Some things about myself is that I like to try new things and like to explore with my brothers or my girl. The image above is a picture of the road after the snow storm about a couple weeks ago. My favorite thing to do is to drive around and go out with friends. .Driving just excites me and reliefs the stress from school and work. When I’m driving i like to listen to bad bunny,  Manuel Turizo,  and a couple other Hispanic artists.

Blog 1 – Aben Flores

Hey, I’m Aben Flores! I’m majoring in psychology so I can become a child psychologist one day. I barback/bartend on the weekends at a fine dining restaurant called ”Peak” and I love hospitality.

Music is an integral part of everyone’s lives, especially mine. I have always been fascinated by music that touches on themes of anxiety, depression, and mental illness as a whole. Pictured above is the album cover of” KIDS SEE GHOSTS” by Kid Cudi and Kanye West. The art here is the album cover itself, as well as the music. The artwork was created by Takashi Murakami. In the background is an outline of Mount Fuji as well as some bonsai trees. I interpret the artwork as finding peace, tranquility, purpose, and overcoming hardships. Throughout the album, Kanye West and Kid Cudi talk about their experiences with suicide, anxiety, and more. Kanye west reflects on his past suicide attempts and how everyone called him crazy for struggling with bipolar disorder. Cudi talks about how lonely and depressed he was after his uncle passed away. The duo aims to change the way people see mental illness, as many dismiss its very existence. I was diagnosed with major anxiety disorder growing up which caused many hardships for me. It wasn’t until I started going to therapy that I learned to cope. Albums like ”KIDS SEE GHOSTS” hold a special place for me as Kanye and Cudi spoke against the stigma. My experience with therapy has inspired me to find a career in it and that’s why I’m passionate about it.

Introduction

Hello,

My name is Junior, and I am currently a freshman. This will be my second semester here at Baruch College and majoring in Marketing Management. Baruch College was also my first choice as they have a great business program and I will be able to commute every day. I was raised and born in Queens New York, but my parents were born in Honduras and Guatemala. And I visit both countries as often as possible. An interesting fact about myself is that I enjoy to watch and play soccer.

I included the image of the high school I attended, Epic Highschool North, as it made an impact on my life. I was able to meet important figures in my life and made new friendships which followed me here to Baruch. This school also allowed me to build real-life skills I had previously never imagined I would. These skills would be being able to come out of my shell and able to talk to a group of audience. I was very much an introvert before going into high school but I had a great support system in high school which allowed me to express myself more clearly and will be forever grateful.

Hello

My name is Edryan Canario, I am a Dominican American and this is my second semester as a freshman at Baruch college.  I’m currently a finance major with no plan of changing it. I feel like I am personally a very extroverted person and love meeting new people along with doing new things. I take pride in my accomplishments and really just want to become successful. That’s where this picture above comes from, I feel like it really represents me as a person and despite having obstacles for whatever reason you still my overcome them. In addition, me personally i find this image perfect because it shows the full face of adversity. Many people including myself a long time ago, viewed success and a negative thing and didn’t really take it for what it was. Now I know that success isn’t all glamorous and glitter it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice “under the water” or hidden from everyone else’s views. Another reason why it resonates with me is because of my personal issues I’ve had in the past. When dealing with certain problems whether it be money, family, love life etc. I tend to just want to get it over with and wish that I could become successful overnight. However, I noticed that success isn’t an overnight type of thing, I have to  grind for it if I really want it. Finally, It seems simple but it artistic presence is there with the naked eye being viewed and the underwater trying to be considered hidden. If you really want it just know persistence is key.

Playboi Carti - Stop Breathing - LIVE in Brooklyn, NYC 12/17/21 - YouTube1,280 × 720

Hello everybody.  My name is Saul Veras and I am a freshman at Baruch College. Currently, in my second semester, I am majoring in computer information systems with a sub-plan of cybersecurity. Born and raised in the Bronx, I decided to go to Baruch College due to my interest in business as well as technology. I am also dominican. I would describe myself as a fun, calm, outgoing person who isn’t afraid to try out new things and go to new places. I’m usually with whatever as I like to do different things. Moving from that, the picture I included is actually an image of the first concert I attended the last December. Main reason I included this was because I am a person who enjoys music, and this was a really amazing experience for me. This picture could describe me since the tone of the picture gives off the vibe of excitement, entertainment and enjoyment. Like I said previously, I consider myself to be an outgoing person, so enviroments like this are just fun to be around, especially with friends and it is just overall a good time to just enjoy. The specific artist of the enviroment was Playboi Carti and as you could see from the picture, there were more than thousands people attending the event. Since it was such a fun event, and my first one, I’ll definitely be attending to more concernts and events like so because I don’t want this one to be my last.

Mohamed Terra – Blog 1

Hi, my name is Mohamed. I am a freshman in my second semester here at Baruch college. My intended major is marketing management or something along the lines of business. I was born in and grew up in Manhattan for most of my life. I have visited Egypt many times and lived there for a year when I was four years old. Both my parents are from Egypt, and it is honestly my favorite place to visit. Something in my life that feel like represents me and who I am today, is the elementary school that I attended: P.S. 158. Elementary school is the gateway to many things in your life. Obviously it is the start of your academic career. The things you learn in elementary school are things you need for college. Secondly, elementary school is the start of your social life. It is the first time for most people, that we actually interact with others outside our family, and create friendships which is a really important skill in life. During elementary school, I created bonds with people, that I still call best friends up until this day. Lastly, my favorite memories were during my time in elementary school. Memories that shape who I am today. I loved how it was a perfect mix of doing fun activities in school and also learning at the same time. It taught me how to deal with academic stress. Whenever I feel too worked up over school work, I take a break and do something that is fun for me, that way I can clear my mind and complete my work.

As humans, we are defined by the society we live in. We live in a nation where we are systematically marginalized into serving those who fit the predefined prototype. People of my kind, the “minority”, have limits to what they are allowed to achieve and there are rules and regulations set in place to make sure things stay that way. Someone of my description(a 6’1″ tall, 190lbs, African-American male), is closely associated with a specific stereotype. The society we live in would have us associate someone with that description with not-so-positive thoughts. Hitherto, the path set by those who exist at the top for someone like me is not one that would reach the top.

Personally, this piece of art describes who I am at the core of it all. Someone who defies odds regardless of the obstacles in the way. Over the years I have faced obstacles that could have completely stopped me from achieving the goals I had set forth for myself. Whilst some may consider such experiences to be traumatic or hindering, I only see those experiences as ways to propel myself towards the top. As we stand our system is intended to make the rich richer and have those who do not fit into the prototype, serve those who are in the prototype. I do not plan to be bonded to such a system.

As someone who aspires to be a lawyer, the simple fact is that the path of law is binary. Meaning, you could either be a good lawyer or a rich lawyer. That alone speaks to the system we are living in. The path I am planning to take is one that challenges the systematic ideals set forth by those in power. Those that get to write the books of history and determine what is right or wrong. That is who I am and that is how this piece of art defines me.

Hello, my name is Diyorjon and I’m a Freshman at Baruch and this is my second semester. I am a SEEK student and I am a real estate major but I’m planning on changing it. I’m a full time student but I do have hobbies on the side; one of which is reselling and I’ve been doing this for almost 2 years now and it has impacted my life a lot. And second, I enjoy going to the gym and working out. Here I included a picture of my gym, and it is a symbol to me. For me working out is so much more than getting “big” and “shredded”. It builds character and discipline because it takes a lot of hard work. To me whenever I walk inside, I know that I have to put in that work if I want to get anywhere and the amount of work you put in is reflected on your physical appearance and strength. So I give it my all every time I go. I’ve been going for 4 months consistently and I can’t imagine my life without it now. I improved a lot from when I had begun and I can see it from my progress pictures and my overall strength. But it’s not just important to me for that reason alone, because i’ve realized that even if no one is there for you, you can always rely on the gym and it will always be there. Because the weights won’t move themselves, you got to do it yourself. This aspect of the gym really resonates with me for that reason. If I want to get anywhere, I know that I have to put in the work.

Fermin Perez

Hello everyone,

My name is Fermin Perez and I’m currently a freshman. My intended major is accounting. Joining Baruch was a no brainer decision because of their business school and also being able to stay close to home. As you can see, I’m a reserved person but I am trying to become more open to new experiences. I also try to be consistent with experiences that are new to me because only then will I become comfortable with it. This image is an photo of Madison Square Garden, specifically during a Knicks game. I’m a big Knicks fan and have been a fan since 2014. One thing the Knicks have always been known for recently is being unsuccessful. Since becoming a fan I have seen nothing but disappointment but it has shown me to not give up on anything. Going to Knicks games or watching them on tv whenever I got that the chance is something I really enjoy. This image shows the environment of Madison Square Garden during Knicks games. The fans always come through even at their lowest points. And it is an overall great experience. Having been to several Knicks game with this amount of fans, you can feel the emotion just by looking at the image. It’s as if by looking at it, you are there.
