Misinformation campaigns online have become increasingly savvy at presenting themselves as legitimate and preying up readers’ emotional reactions to sensational material.
In this 1-hour workshop, CTL staff members will discuss trends in how students process the news and will look at examples of some common ways that misleading or misinformative sources manifest false impressions of credibility.. Together, we will reflect on some strategies for communicating with students about sources and brainstorm approaches, activities, and tools that might work in fostering information literacy skills across all disciplines.
