CTL Fostering Student Engagement Seminar
July 8, 2021 @ 10:30 am - 11:45 am EDT
Session #1: Building Classroom Community and Translating Learning Goals
After several semesters of teaching online, we’re eagerly anticipating a mix of online, hybrid, and in-person courses for Fall 2021. From our work with faculty, the results of the CTL Student Survey, and our discussions with colleagues across the college, it’s clear that Baruch College values learning together as a community and that we strive to foster student engagement.
In this fully online seminar, participants will convene over July and early August in a combination of synchronous and asynchronous formats to re-envision their course with the goal of increasing student engagement and participation. With guidance from the CTL staff and feedback from their peers, participating faculty will develop a plan to foster student engagement in their course, whether they will teach online, hybrid, or in-person.
After successful completion participating faculty will receive a $500 stipend. All part-time and full-time faculty who are scheduled to teach in the upcoming academic year are eligible to apply, but priority will be given to faculty scheduled to teach in the Fall. Seats in the seminar are limited. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis on or before Tuesday, June 22nd. Please click on this link for more details and sign up information.
