Equity plays a major role in the kinds of technologies and learning spaces students have access to, and in turn, access to tech and space impact the ways students can engage in online classrooms. How can we engage students when they aren’t on camera? How can students communicate their presence in online classrooms regardless of camera-use? During this workshop, we’ll consider these and other questions about student presence and participation in online classrooms. We will also offer practical suggestions to encourage real-time student input in multiple modes. We welcome individual questions, and there will be time for brainstorming ideas to make your live class sessions active and student-centered, with or without cameras on.
