Hi! My name is Carolina Cabrera. I am pretty shy when I first meet someone, but as I get to know them I can be quite chatty. I was born in Ecuador but came to the U.S. when I was two, so basically I have lived in NYC my whole life. I am 17 and am the first to go to college form my family.
My top three concerns about my freshman year at Baruch would be trying to maintain good grades, getting to know others, and being able to manage my time wisely. I know that academics will be taking up a lot of my time but I don’t want to completely forget about having fun. I hope to join a few clubs this year and make lasting friendships.
So far I think that there are a few things that will make my Baruch College experience different from high school. For instance, I have much more freedom, which always means I also have much more responsibility. In high school I would also get home earlier, which allowed me for better time management, but now I feel like time goes by quicker. I am also definitely finding myself spending so much more money on food then before.
I think that my first year in college will change me because I will be able to take on more accountability for what I do and don’t do. I also hope to get my thoughts straightened up about what I would like to major in and what career I truly have a passion for.
