Hello, my name is Michael. I’m 17 years old born in Israel but raised mostly in New York. I lived in Israel for about 2 years before moving to Brooklyn where I lived until 2003 and then moved to Staten Island (yes, it’s a borough in NYC). I grew up having to learn English on my own for the most part because my parents didn’t speak it that well. I graduated from Tottenville High School on Staten Island where I was part of the swim team for 3 years and was captain my senior year helping the team to 2 straight Staten Island titles and 2 straight undefeated regular seasons. I’m very happy to be in Baruch because I know this a school where I can succeed and go beyond what I did in high school. I’m excited to meet new people, make new friends, and have a college experience. I enjoy sports and music as well as movies and sleeping. One concern that I have at Baruch are too much time. I’m sure it will come in handy later on when I have a lot of work and exams to study for but it’s still a lot of time for a breaks. Another concern is the level of work. In high school, it was much simpler and easier to succeed but it will not be as easy in Baruch. A 3rd concern is that there are so many more people that I will not be able to make friends as easily. I think that something that will make my Baruch experience different will be the clubs and teams. There are many teams, clubs, and frats to join and there will be new people to meet. I think my first year will change me because I will feel older, more mature, and a greater responsibility for my actions.
