Uninspired, mandatory post #1

I haven’t gotten a good night’s sleep in days, procrastinated as long as I possibly could before doing this, etc. Shocking stuff.
OMG

Let’s get this over with. Okay? Okay.

Who are you?

I’m Avi. Born and raised in Brooklyn. I’m a student at Baruch College. I like music, sports, and movies. That’s all for now, but I hope to learn more about myself and the world around me in the next 4 years.

Three Biggest Challenges at Baruch?

1) Trying to balance accomplishing my workload with what I’m capable of in a given period of time. While I want to apply myself and achieve, I’ve quickly learned that there are some severe time constraints. Being able to maximize my time through efficiency and prioritization will be the key to my success. I hope I’m able to sneak in some time to sleep and/or have fun.

2) Not getting fat(ter). Fuck the frosh 15, I’m hitting the gym at Baruch and back in bk at least 4 days a week. Totally stay away from that $1 pizza place. Do not stuff face with free food at various club meetings. More Jersey Shore gifs…

GET IN MAH BELLY

3) Getting used to standing for 2+ hours a day on a packed subway train during rush hour. The relentless grind of working can take its toll, coping with that will help keep me chill.

What do I think of Baruch so far?

I’m really pleased overall. Making friends has been a breeze (with upperclassmen as well), many here are down to earth and pleasant. Their sense of humor goes a long way in making a sometimes draining day a light and manageable experience.

It’s different from my High School in so many ways. For starters, my graduating class had about 2 dozen people, so attending Baruch with 13,000 is quite different. I like nearly every aspect of Baruch in comparison.

Baruch’s SACC tutoring center has been one of the many fantastic on-campus resources. My favorite class is Henry Shevlin’s Philosophy course, it’s like Russell Brand on crack (no, really). Each class is a mindblowing look at a plethora of topics, pretty trippy.

How will my first year at college change me?

I don’t believe that I’ll undergo a paradigm shift, but I hope to be able to absorb all kinds of useful information and apply it in my life. I also look forward to growing this year as part of my maturation process. I expect to be much more well-rounded (intellectually, not in appearance ;) ) by the time this year is over.
