Hi, my name is Wasim Salim and I am someone who is approachable and trustworthy.

Things that I am concerned with during my freshman year at Baruch is getting used to the college course load.  So far my college course load has been very similar to the coursework I received in high school. I went to a IB school so this is probably why college courses aren’t that new to me. Another concern that I have is about making friends. Not that making friends is hard for me its just that I feel that people at commuter schools keep to themselves. I also worry about not enjoying my time at Baruch because of its characteristic of being a  commuter school. However, I have been told by Baruch seniors and alumni that the only way to enjoy yourself at Baruch is to get involved.

My high school was really small and we had a pretty bad building. So most things that stand out to me at Baruch has to do with aesthetics. The vast amount of resources and facilities Baruch has makes college different from high school. Academically, Baruch is different because of the variety of courses that are available. In addition, the community at Baruch is much larger then the community I had in highschool. I hope to meet many new people and get involved in many new activities.

My first year at Baruch will probably help me individualize myself more. College is where your supposed to find out who you are and how you learn. This is because the college learning environment is much more looser then it is in high school. There is nobody breathing down your neck and no one to hold your hand so you learn how to help your self in college.
