Hello, my name is Mingoo Kang. I’m just an ordinary Korean guy and I’m trying to break through my old lazy habits. By the end of the semester, I seek to be a more responsible and mature person.
The first of the three concerns about my freshman year at Baruch College is keeping my GPA up. I’ve experienced the difficulty of trying to get my GPA up during the last two years in my high school and this time I will try to do it right from the start. In relation to my first concern, the second thing I’m concerned about is that I have to teach myself mostly. I was used to the “spoonfeeding” from high school where I didn’t really have to study at home to keep up in class. But now, I have to get used to actually study after school. While not directly related to my college experience, the third concern I have is about commuting. It takes an hour minium to get to school and I can’t really ignore the transportation fares.
So far, having to commute and having to teach myself will be the biggest transition from my high school experience to that of Baruch’s. I also really enjoy the freedom I haven’t had much of in high school such as using cell phone or leaving the building freely.
My first year at college will teach me how to manage time efficiently. It will also teach how to be more responsible mainly through having to teach myself and working to pay for my own expenses.
