A Time To Serve

Basically what is being said in the article “A Time To Serve” is that a republic needs the cooperation of its citizens in order for it to thrive. It then proceeds to make points on how important it is for citizens to actively participate in society, and then how in recent years more people were volunteering.
A “universal national service” plan is suggested, which is suppose to help “get citizens involved in civic life” in order to keep the republic. Its 10-point plan is indeed helpful, and should really improve our society quite a bit. What caught my attention was the “Education Corps”, as it aimed to help children to graduate, and not dropout.

What should be noted however, is that this article was posted around 4 years ago. Was any of this put into practical use? I’m not really sure.
