Reflection- Kolbein Netland

So far Baruch has definitely exceeded my expectations. After attending orientation in May and convocation in August my expectations were exceptionally low. At first I thought that it was going to be extremely lonely and long semester. After the first couple of days and everyone loosened up a little, including myself, and it became much more enjoyable.  Originally I thought that the blocks were a dumb idea but now I realize that they really help people connect since everyone is taking pretty much the same classes and its pretty hard not to make friends with at least one person, which is something that I appreciate greatly. Everyone in block 55 is really friendly and positive, especially Sheila, Mike, Victoria, Anjelica, and Youssef, which is extremely comforting when your shy and nervous, like myself. My first semester at Baruch has gone pretty well. So far my grades are better that high school and I have a strong feeling that I am going to finish well in all my classes, with the possible exception of pre-calc due to the final. The only thing that I would do differently would probably be to get to know everyone else a little better. Everyone has the groups that they hang out with and none of them really get together, but everyone pretty much talks to everyone else which is nice. Since I first started at Baruch I have definitely learnead to become a little more social. Usually I don’t like talking to people and keep to myself but Baruch has allowed me to changed for the better and develop stronger relationships.
